We had the good fortune of connecting with Rqltattoo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rqltattoo, what do you attribute your success to?

Behind my work there is a lot of previous study, I have dedicated my whole life to art, trying out techniques and improving them. There is a lot of dedication and constant work, keeping up to date and soaking up other artistic sources to get inspiration, not just closing myself off to what is being done in the world of tattooing, that way you create your own language and your own way of expressing your concepts. Everything has to dance at the same time with the anatomy, creating a dance between design and body.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

It’s complicated to be able to dedicate yourself to the world of art in general.
I always knew that I wanted to dedicate myself to something that would allow me to draw (I haven’t done anything else since I can remember), but I didn’t really know how I could dedicate myself to it, so until I found tattooing it was very complicated.
Previously I was an illustrator for almost 10 years, but either you had an agency or you had a very large portfolio of clients or it was impossible to make a living out of it. It was quite a lonely job as the only contact you had was with the creative or art director… over the years I kept thinking about learning to tattoo. It was practically in 2020 when I finally took the plunge and everything went quite quickly as I haven’t stopped since I started.
I feel that this profession gives me much more than I would have expected. Just the idea of continuing to create pieces fills me with happiness, but at the same time, it also allows me to have contact and create a link with the person who wants one of my designs and to get to know new places.
The only advice I could give is that when you have something clear, what you want exactly, go for it and go for it, to try to improve every day but above all to enjoy the process because it is marvellous.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Of course there would be no shortage of food plans (probably one of the best pleasures in life), exhibitions, beers and wines and music.
As for exhibitions “Solo Collection” would be a must, without a doubt the most varied and high quality collection of both established and emerging artists from all over the world. It’s one of my favourites
For lunch we would definitely go to Casa Mortero, Arallo, Fishmuller, or some oriental food place.
We would surely do some wine/beer tours or even some “yayo”.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I think that the people around me have always been a great support and when I decided to change course, they were a big push.
To this day, my colleagues and friends are, it is very nourishing to have very professional people close to me. So my special mention would go from the people who gave their skin so that I could start to those who are by my side today, advising, influencing, and sharing their art.
