We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Lindenlaub & Kim Jay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle & Kim, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Navigating risks in our career and lives has ultimately brought us to where we are today. First off, taking the entrepreneurial ‘road less travelled’ is a risk in and of itself. Trusting our vision is crucial, even when things feel uncertain. Saying no might seem scary, but it often opens the door to bigger and better opportunities that are a better fit for us. It’s all about focusing our time and energy on things that really matter to us, rather than spreading ourselves too thin. You have to trust the vision you have in your mind to bring you where you want to go.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our art at Ethos is all about capturing moments and telling stories through imagery that resonates with authenticity and emotion. What sets us apart is our commitment to pushing creative boundaries and approaching each project with a fresh perspective. We’re most proud of our ability to connect with our clients on a personal level and translate their visions into compelling visual narratives.
Our journey to where we are today professionally has been filled with challenges, but each obstacle has served as a stepping stone for growth and learning. It hasn’t always been easy, but we’ve overcome challenges by staying true to our values, maintaining a strong work ethic, and constantly seeking opportunities for improvement.
Along the way, we’ve learned the importance of adaptability, resilience, and collaboration. We’ve embraced the power of creativity to drive positive change and inspire others. Our brand is built on a foundation of authenticity, integrity, and passion for storytelling. We want the world to know that Ethos is more than just a photography business; it’s a community of like-minded individuals dedicated to making a meaningful impact through our art and our stories.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oouf! This is a hard one to narrow down, we’re both inspired by so many people – but also nature, art, books, movement, stillness…
But I think where we both get a lot of inspiration from is our mutual love for music. Rejoicing in each week’s new Discover Weekly playlist (bless the Spotify algorithms), we are also both avid concert goers & music festival veterans.
Festivals are a place of art, expression and creativity – all the while stomping it out on the dance floor (which has it’s own therapeutic affects). As Ru Paul says, “Don’t take life too seriously and have fun”. These events are a catalysts for leaving your ego at the door, and embracing the weird/wild sides of yourself. This is a surefire way to keep our cups full and the creative juices flowing.
Shoutout to our favourite British Columbia festivals: Song & Surf, Phillips Backyarder, Rifflandia, Otherworld, Bass Coast & Shambhala.
