Meet Debbie Shuman Espinoza | Family Life – Un-Addicted

We had the good fortune of connecting with Debbie Shuman Espinoza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Debbie Shuman, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My journey through addiction and witnessing the struggles of my family in their own addictions has profoundly shaped my mission and purpose. The end goal of my career is to transform the way we support and empower the loved ones of those battling addiction. I envision a world where families and friends are equipped with the knowledge, tools, and emotional resilience to thrive, even in the face of addiction.
Professionally, by the end of my career, I aim to have established a comprehensive support network that includes educational programs, therapeutic resources, and community outreach initiatives. I want to see a significant shift in societal understanding and empathy towards the loved ones of those struggling with addiction, reducing the stigma and providing tangible, accessible support.
Ultimately, I aspire to leave a legacy of hope and healing, where families emerge stronger and more connected, and individuals feel empowered to reclaim their lives and well-being, no longer defined by the addictions that once overshadowed their relationships. My goal is to be a catalyst for change, ensuring that no one has to suffer in silence and that every person has the opportunity to thrive.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets my work apart is the profound empathy, compassion and understanding that comes from my personal journey through addiction and recovery. My services are dedicated to helping loved ones of those suffering from addiction understand that they do not have to suffer in their relationships. Through my experiences, I offer a unique perspective that combine spirituality, and practical support.
I am most proud of the impact my work has on families and individuals who feel lost and hopeless. Hearing stories of how my counseling and guidance have provided comfort and clarity is incredibly rewarding. I am excited about expanding my reach to offer more workshops, support groups, and resources to those in need. My goal is to create a community where people can find solace and strength.
Reaching this point in my career has been a journey filled with both immense challenges and profound growth. Balancing my professional aspirations with the ongoing process of watching my family members struggle in addiction was no small feat. Initially, I struggled to find my voice and place in the world, but my unwavering passion for helping others kept me moving forward.
The path was far from easy. I faced many moments of doubt and fear, but each challenge became a lesson in resilience and determination. My biggest turning point was realizing that my struggles could serve as a beacon of hope for others. Embracing this role gave me the strength to overcome obstacles and transform my pain into a source of healing for others.
1. **Compassion is Powerful:** Understanding and compassion are vital. They create a space where people feel safe to share their stories and begin their healing process.
2. **Stay True to Your Vision:** Authenticity resonates. By staying true to my experiences and vision, I’ve been able to connect deeply with others and offer genuine support.
3. **Never Underestimate the Impact of Support:** The support from my community and loved ones has been instrumental. Their belief in my mission has fueled my journey and expanded my reach.
My brand is built on the foundation of my personal story and the lessons I’ve learned. I want the world to know that healing is possible, not just for those struggling with addiction, but for their loved ones as well. My mission is to provide support and resources that help families navigate the complexities of addiction with love, understanding, and hope.
Through my work, I aim to create a safe space for people to express their feelings, find strength in their experience and connect with others who understand their journey. My story is one of transformation and hope and my goal is to inspire others on their path to healing.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my mission. I am dedicated to making a difference and helping loved ones find peace and empowerment in their relationships.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite place would have to be the beach. This is the space I go to for the energy it provides as well as the peace it offers. The sound of the water and the power it truly is seems to soothe my soul each and every moment i am in its presence.
I would have to take them to Hollywood Blvd, This is probably the most iconic place so that would be a must. The history and nostalgia of this part of LA is something i feel should be experienced by those who come to visit.
There are quite a few restaurants some being Mastros, The hidden Door and then maybe Malibu seafood. I love a good meal and these are some of my favorites.
The museums and the mountains are also very beautiful. The life in LA has so much to offer to those who visit it is hard to put the experience of this beautiful city into an itinerary. I am a go with the mood type of person so I would feel what the energy of the day is and plan accordingly. There is just so much here to offer those who visit and all the experiences are truly incredible.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shout out to Rikka Zimmerman at Adventure in Oneness for opening me up to the Unconditional Love that I am. Mostly to my children and family for always believing in me and supporting me every step of my way.
