We had the good fortune of connecting with Yianni AP and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yianni, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up in a big fat greek family, and as a result I’m passionate about good music, laughing with friends, and of course delicious food. I grew up in the Bay Area, which was a great place to live. It’s a very diverse and culturally rich place. It also has a very deep music history, connecting back to Mac Dre all the way to Green Day. I started playing guitar at a pretty young age and quickly started playing in pop/rock bands with my friends. We performed all over the bay area and even went on tours. Having been in a band for many years really informed and allowed me to succeed as a mixer. I think that’s because I been in the clients shoes and I know how important the music is to them, and so I do my best to honor and respect that.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Music is my passion. More specifically, MIXING music is my passion. I love how I can manipulate sounds and recordings to bring out even more emotion. I’ve been mixing music professionally for about 6 years now and I truly love it. It took a lot of work (and it still is a lot of work) but now that I’ve built a client base of artists who trust me to work on there music I feel like it’s all worth it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love going out to dinner and experiencing all the incredible restaurants that LA has to offer. I’m primarily an east sider. So my favorite areas are Echo Park, Silver Lake, Highland Park, etc. Some of my favorite resturaunts are Amiga Amore, Angels Tijuana Tacos, Villa’s Tacos, Home State, and so many others. I also love walking around the Silver Lake reservoir, and maybe popping in to Lamill for a coffee.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I gotta give a shoutout to my big bro Petro AP who first introduced me to music and lead the path!
