We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Michener and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chelsea, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It was really more of a necessity than anything else. The dance industry is entirely freelance. While you are waiting for your next audition or next job to book, you have to supplement your income somehow. I’ve always had a passion for teaching so this was a way I could teach at different studios and do workshops while helping the next generation of dancers all while I still worked professionally.

What should our readers know about your business?
Dance takes years and years and years of training but anyone can start at any time. There are some dance classes you go to if you want to train professionally and some dance classes you go to if you just want to have a good time, move your body and learn about the artform. Dance is more accessible than most people think.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the Mexican restaurant Salsa And Beer. Going up to a beach in Malibu is always a nice way to spend the day with a guest. Also, The Iliad is a cute little used bookstore with so much charm.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Adam Parson is one of my mentors. I would not be the dancer or the teacher I am today without his guidance.
