We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Stroia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is consistency and connection. As a service-based entrepreneur, showing up consistently with content that is valuable and speaks to helping someone ease their suffering or learn a tool to help them cope with stress is incredibly valuable. Many people reach out to me because my emails resonated with them or my message connects to something they are going through.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an associate marriage and family therapist. I specialize in trauma and a lot of my clients are survivors of trauma. After experiencing a lot of hardship and some trauma, I went to therapy and had a positive experience processing some unresolved trauma. It inspired me to go back to school and pursue my master’s. It most definitely was not easy as I am also a mom and at the time, my son was three. I learned the value of community and connection. Reaching out for help and tapping into all of my resources allowed me to succeed. If there is anything I encourage people to do it is start connecting to a community and make more connections. It is how we can thrive. My story is a story of a trauma survivor who despite the odds stacked against her found a way. Asking for help is key to growth, healing and moving forward.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have a love for the ocean which is one of the reasons why I moved to LA.

First stop would be to see the sunset at the beach. I love going to El Matador beach in Malibu.
I also love going to yoga classes and found a cute yoga spot in Pasadena called Archetype yoga.
The Grove, Hollywood Sign, the Broad are also some favorite spots I would take them.
There are so many good restaurants in LA. I recently found an amazing Italian restaurant on the West Side that I went to for my birthday called Colapasta. Delicious!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shoutout Antioch University. I just graduated with my master’s in clinical psychology and the program at Antioch was amazing. The classes, professors and peers were very supportive and really work to ensure your success in the field. It was life-changing for me and has helped me to see the world in a more compassionate way.
