We had the good fortune of connecting with Aleksey Boyko and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aleksey, what inspires you?
I’m inspired by Scandinavian culture, featuring elements. I’m inspired by the north. I was born and raised in a very cold and harsh place, so I’m imbued with folk ornaments and culture, which is a national treasure there.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It wasn’t an easy process. I didn’t know for a long time what exactly I wanted to do, what style would be a part of me. I constantly have to look for something new. I’m very often inspired by something from the outside and bring it into my artworks. That’s how I keep my passion alive.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although northern culture plays a big role in my work, I want to emphasize Berlin in Germany. The very place where I feel like I belong every time I go there. This is the most unusual and unique city. The most free of prejudice. I can not recommend a particular place, because everyone’s tastes are different, but I think in this city everyone will find what he is looking for

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s very hard to single out anything in particular because there are many people in my environment who inspire me in one way or another. I can say that my wife inspires me in the highest way. Because she is a wonderful artist and an amazing person who will always support me and guide me if I get off track
