We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Cronan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Over the years I’ve learned that I have had a habit of collecting mentors, the benefit of which is truly immeasurable. Now, when I say “mentor” I don’t necessarily mean an old, established academic with a white beard (though I do literally have one of those as well in the founder of my gallery, David Fahey). I stay open to learning from those I come across, and in this I’ve discovered most are willing to share with you their road map.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I joined Fahey/Klein Gallery in 2017. The road to this long-established fine art photography gallery was a bit circuitous, having previously spent roughly a decade in art fair production – a role I fell into immediately after college.

Having the opportunity to meet and work with some of today’s most important artists, collectors, and curators continues to be inspiring. I find great joy in supporting my artists and educating our enthusiastic collectors and art patrons. The time I have spent doing this work has reaffirmed for me that collaboration is paramount and being open to the fresh and new is key to the creative process.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am not a native Angelino, and the allure of Los Angeles has not worn off – even after all these years. I love to take visitors on adventures to fully absorb the city. With perfect weather every day, a trip to Leo Carrillo for a wine and cheese beach picnic is certainly at the top of the list. I have an addiction to museums, so I will certainly drag loved ones to LACMA, the Getty, the Academy Museum, Huntington Gardens, or the Museum of Jurassic Technology. You could EASILY plan any visit to L.A. around where you’re going to eat. We are rich with incredible eateries, so I won’t even try to list my favorites (but I do dream about Ye Rustic Inn’s chicken wings). An evening visit to the Griffith Observatory is always magical, with a stop at Bar Covell in Los Feliz to cap off the evening.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh man, the list of those who deserve recognition is a mile long! I have the immense privilege to collaborate with massively talented artists and contribute in some small way to the “art world landscape” of Los Angeles. The Fahey/Klein Gallery, and my wonderful colleagues that suffer my shenanigans, have allowed me such soul fulfilling opportunities in my career. Somehow, I also have the most creative, funny, and attractive family and group of friends that are generous with their compliments and patient with my inability to text in a timely fashion. AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF… I won the jackpot with my husband and life partner. He is the kindest and most sincere person I know. Our kids are the luckiest to have him as a dad. (*he’s also a total smoke show!).
