We had the good fortune of connecting with Layla & Brian Anonymous and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Layla & Brian, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We wanted to “unmask” a lifestyle that’s often whispered about but rarely spoken of openly. The Masked Swingers Podcast was born from our desire to not only share our own adventures in non-monogamy and kink but also to create a space where people can laugh, learn, and explore the exciting and sometimes taboo world of alternative relationships. Plus, who doesn’t love a little mystery? We keep it masked, but nothing is off-limits when it comes to real conversations and candid stories!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Layla: Our podcast is all about blending curiosity and boldness, with a dash of ‘Did they really just say that?’ We dive into taboo topics like non-monogamy and kink, but we keep it fun and educational. What sets us apart is creating a safe space for people to break stigmas, ask questions, and maybe even blush a little. 😉 Navigating controversy can be tricky, but with my husband and family cheering me on, I’ve stayed true to myself. Our brand is about more than entertainment; it’s about normalizing the conversations we all think about but rarely say out loud. With a little humor and a lot of heart, we aim to break down walls and help people connect—with themselves and with others!

Was it easy? Nope! Navigating controversy is like roller-skating uphill, but with my husband and family cheering me on, I’ve stayed true to myself. My brand is about more than entertainment; it’s about normalizing the conversations we all think about but rarely say out loud. With a little humor and a lot of heart, we aim to break down walls and help people connect—with themselves and with others!

Brian: We’re out here shining a light on a relationship style that works for a lot of people, but let’s be real—it gets a pretty bad rap. People have been so worried about the judgment that they’re afraid to ‘come out,’ and who can blame them? That’s why we wear the masks—they’re not just a nod to the stigma, but a way to get the real, unfiltered stories out there. It’s all about showing how people are living their most genuine lives.

Is it easy? Not at all. Anything that challenges the norm never is. But at the end of the day, we’ve got a chance to make a real impact. We want to prove there are other ways to do relationships—ways where you can be totally upfront about what you want, stay ethical in how you treat others, and still keep it all together. It’s definitely a wild ride, but one that’s totally worth the risk.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Layla: If my best friend was visiting LA, we’d mix it up with the best of the city! We’d start with breakfast at The Butcher’s Daughter in Venice, then hit the beach for sun and people-watching. A rooftop mocktail in Santa Monica at sunset? Yes, please! We’d explore The Broad Museum, grab dinner at Bestia, and maybe hike Runyon Canyon for some epic views and a Hollywood selfie.

For a fun twist, we’d check out a local play party if they’re feeling adventurous! After all, LA’s known for pushing boundaries!

Brian: If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d make sure to give them the ultimate LA experience. First stop: Groundwork Coffee for their breakfast burrito, which is hands down one of the best (and most underrated) in the city. After fueling up, we’d hit the Temescal Canyon Trail in The Palisades for a scenic hike with killer ocean views.

For a more laid-back afternoon, we’d head over to Santa Monica for wine and pizza at Bodega—perfect for a casual vibe and great food. If they’re up for a night of dancing or even a bit of adventure, we’d head to the Arts District. Resident is always a solid choice for good music, and Disco Night at The Let’s Go never disappoints if you’re in the mood for some funky, carefree vibes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Layla: I definitely have to give a huge shoutout to my amazing husband who has been absolute champ as I dive headfirst into a space that’s equal parts thrilling and controversial. Navigating non-monogamy and kink publicly can be like walking a tightrope, but he’s cheered me on the whole way!

Brian: I’d like to give a shoutout to my wife, who has been my partner in exploring this journey since our very first date. She continues to support me as we work to shed light on and normalize these experiences. I also want to express gratitude to everyone who has been a guest on the podcast. For many, it was their first time openly discussing their experiences with non-monogamy, and I deeply appreciate the courage, humor, candor, and fun they’ve brought to every conversation.
