We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Parrot and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adam, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
There’s always room for improvement. It’s important to constantly outdo your previous attempts at something and never settle even if it’s the easy way.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Originally a graffiti artist , I also attended Art school in Nashville and Chicago, after years of painting the streets and freight trains of Chicago, I graduated with a degree in computer graphics. After not being able to find a job in Chicago , I had to move back to Tn in 2001, where I ended up doing a tattoo apprenticeship under a friend from California who had also schooled me in graffiti when we were younger. I moved back to Chicago after finishing my apprenticeship and started tattooing at a shop with a couple of my friends from my graffiti crew. Then fast forward to 2009 ,I came out to Venice to do a guest spot and ended up moving out to the West side. I quickly learned that I butted heads with the owners , and had to bounce around shops for a while , then my good friends (Paul & Alayna) opened their own shop Rabble Rouser Tattoo in Palms, and this month marks 9 years there.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I always recommend hitting up Venice , it’s just always an experience and many good food spots. Then I would recommend Sawtelle Japantown and Little Tokyo for more good food spots. So as far as entertainment, can’t go wrong with the comedy clubs in West Hollywood!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a Shoutout to my amazing wife Hiromi. She’s a strong, beautiful woman who bravely moved here from Japan almost 10 years ago. She has opened my eyes to many things and shared incredible experiences with me as well. She continues to be the balance that was missing from life before we met and I love her with all my heart.
