We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Clayborne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Veronica, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
As a mom of five, the most important thing I’ve done as a parent is protect my children from the pains of the modern world until they are ready.

I protect them from growing up too fast. I protect them from social media giving them unrealistic views of what success and family is. I’ve protected them from being celebrity obsessed and viewing life outside of the Los Angeles bubble as what is real, valued and important.

Society really wants children to value material things, public relationships, social climbing and likes as core values. In our home we honor traditions, respect, hard work, real love and happiness that isn’t based on likes and brands.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My podcast Stormie’s Stories is a compilation of my life through the lense of motherhood and womanhood. I’m a pisces and so I’m a natural creative. I have to create to be happy. Sharing my life and joys is a way for me to live on the vibration I was made for.

I been writing and story telling since I was a child. I appeared on the reality show, Second Wives Club and then went on to create my own podcast The Sac with Laura Govan of Basketball Wives and celebrity creative Mellisa Ford (Rihanna’s best friend) and I fell involve with broaching topics around life and love, family and being a woman. It wasn’t easy and after a few seasons of incredible success the ladies and I went our separate way. So, I’m kind of starting over again. Sitting with just myself and imposters syndrome, asking, am I enough? Everything I have ever learned has said yes, I am enough. Everyone is always enough to go after their passions and dreams. Even in their thirties.

My brand is real mom chic. Let me be clear, I’m not a Nora, or a Martha Stuart…I’m a mommy that get the job done. Sometimes Im gorgeous and other days I’m hanging by a thread. That’s the beauty of the story. Being real about what it takes to do the hardest job in the world in one of the most glam cities in the world, Los Angeles.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would ask a real friend not to bother me. I live in Los Angeles. Everything is frantic from soccer mom politics to table reservations on a Friday. But if I had to- We could get a res at Catch LA and pray they don’t cancel it when we show up 20 minutes late because we were pre-gaming with the gays at Nice Guys. Dress to impress, because I won’t be doing this for at least another three months. Really fuck off with tour guide vibes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d shoutout hardship for helping me to make it this far in my life.

I grew up in the middle of nowhere in abject poverty. My life was so hard, but it truly helped me shape my core values as I grew and began my career. I’m so thankful for every experience, tradition and wonderful support of family and common sense that I see so many just don’t have as a base in this life.

My grandmother Marianne helped me become the mother I am today. Having a massive business in Beverly Hills and making millions and losing it all helped me find the right team that is there to mentor and guide me- when I’m up and when Im down, not just when its good for them. Realness came with a price and I’m confident in the team around me now. My granny was and will always be the voice in the back of my head guiding me in the parental, business and life decisions I make.

My brothers Claude and Jordan are my steadfast rocks that laugh with me, support me and have invested in me starting over as a single mom. Their belief in my business acumen jump started my life again in my thirties.

Emotional Intelligence is the book I always go back to. I have everything I need to be successful and fulfilled.
