We had the good fortune of connecting with Eli Pirian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eli, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started Baciano, it wasn’t just about launching a clothing brand but about bringing a personal vision to life. Fashion has always been a huge part of my life, but I often felt like something was missing in the market. I wanted to create outerwear that didn’t just follow trends but genuinely resonated with women in their everyday lives. Something that made them feel both stylish and comfortable, no matter where they were headed.

The idea of Baciano came from wanting to offer more than just clothes. I wanted to build a brand that felt personal, where every piece was thoughtfully designed with real women in mind. I’d seen how many brands overlooked the practical side of fashion, and I wanted to strike that balance between style and functionality. It’s not just about looking good but feeling good in what you wear.

Of course, starting the business wasn’t easy. There were many late nights, challenges, and learning curves. But what kept me going was the belief in this vision—to create something that felt authentic and truly met the needs of our customers. Every decision, from fabric choices to the way we interact with our clients, is shaped by this mission. Baciano isn’t just a brand to me—it’s a reflection of passion, hard work, and the desire to bring something meaningful into the fashion world.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My ability to take risks has been huge in both my personal and career journey. Honestly, I used to find risk daunting; it’s like one is plunging into the unknown, with no securities. In experience, though, some of the biggest moments that have happened in my life have been leap-of-faith kinds of decisions.

Starting Baciano felt like one of the largest risks I had ever taken. There was no safety net, and the fashion world can be hard. However, something inside me knew that if I didn’t at least give it a shot, I’d be lying in bed for eternity going, “What if?” It had nothing to do with not having fear-once again, I was scared; I had doubts and concerns-but I was more fearful of not taking advantage of perhaps making something I really would be proud of.

Risk-taking doesn’t mean being reckless; it’s more about trusting yourself, even when you’re uncertain about the outcome. Over the years, I have been called upon to make some tough calls-whether it is trying out a really bold new design or taking a different tack in how we market the brand. And, sure, not every risk has paid off. There have been moments of failure, but those are the moments where I’ve learned the most.
