Meet Jose Rivera

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jose Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jose, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal would be to become a successful restauranteur. I would like to own multiple restaurants that reflect not only what I am doing now, but reflect all my culinary abilities. I want to open different restaurants that showcase my love for Mexican, American, and Italian cuisine.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Chef/Owner of a gourmet burger truck that specializes in the use of Bison meat and homemade ingredients. We pride ourselves on our quality and dedication to making the best burger out there. It certainly was not easy and it still isn’t. Like any small business, you have days that are amazing and make you the happiest person in the world. But more often than we would like we have days that are humbling. I’ve learned to be thankful, not just for the good times but also for the bad times, because those experiences are what have made us stronger. We just want people to know that we truly put love and care into everything we make and all we ask for is the opportunity to share our love of food with the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I honestly am huge on going and finding small mom-and-pop shops, because they are the most genuine and honestly sometimes you find some real hidden gems. If I was giving someone a tour of LA I would make sure to take them to eat some amazing Mexican food at “la Plasita Olvera”, maybe catch a show at the Hollywood Bowl, or maybe go to see a Dodger game. I would take them to “The Arts District” and maybe we go on a little bar crawl.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Nobody deserves a bigger shout-out in my journey than my family, in particular my Mom and Dad. They are a huge part of this business and without their help, I don’t think we would be where we are today. They both work full-time jobs and still find the time to help make this dream a reality and for that, I really could not thank them enough.
