Meet Mic Reed | Wellbeing Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mic Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mic, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was I wanted to create a platform that could live online where if someone wanted to find a story about a certain mental health topic they could find that on my show and hopefully get a Take-A-Way from listening to someone else’s story who might be going through a similar if not the same situation.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At just 14, Mic faced a harrowing choice – remain in a neighborhood plagued by bullying, violence, and tragedy, or seek a better life elsewhere. Driven by resilience, Mic chose the latter path, eventually finding his way to Hollywood where he launched a successful career in entertainment.
One friend’s music career led them to Hollywood in 2004, launching Mic’s work in entertainment. He joined C To The B Productions, contributing to several sitcoms as an art director. Through various roles, Mic gained experience in production, technical aspects, writing, and show development.
By 2008, Mic had advanced to associate producer for Discovery Channel’s “Hip Hop Harry.” He later executive produced his own comedy film in 2011. For over 15 years, Mic found fulfillment working with children, beginning at age 12 assisting with weekend activities for those with autism or disabilities.
Personal experience further inspired Mic’s commitment when his son was born with cerebral palsy in 1997. For the past 9 years Mic has been a coach for the AYSO Soccer league in Valencia CA coaching the EPIC league with his son.
In 2021, Mic decided to dedicate his efforts to projects empowering communities and youth. He founded the 1NELife organization and podcast discussing mental health and positivity. 2 Years later Mic got his Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology.
With his CAPP certification, coaching his son’s soccer team and hosting his podcast, Mic finds fulfillment in his new role as a Student Mentor. He sees this as an opportunity to make an impact on young people’s lives, helping guide them through challenges and empowering them for the future all while taking care of their wellbeing.
Mic hopes his own story – from Hollywood entertainment to community work – shows that meaningful impact comes from finding purpose beyond just a job or career. Following your passions and serving others, he believes, is the path to a truly fulfilling life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA is such an Amazing place with so many different lifestyles and I love culture so I would say if a friend was in town I would start a walk at Venice Beach experiencing the many different culture and people from all over while taking in the sound waves of the beach, then I would head north to Santa Monica for a nice beach side lunch. I love art so I would definitely tour Downtown LA Art district and walk through Melrose. Just those places alone is definitely a week long adventure with all the food places, shops and activities in those areas.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Claude Brooks and Jason Lewis, these two gentlemen are a big part of me being where I am today. Jason showed me that there was a different life outside of the neighborhood we grew up in and Claude Brooks showed me how to be a team player and all my work ethics.
