We had the good fortune of connecting with Adolfo Guevara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adolfo, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Bringing authentic flavors from Mexico to USA. When people come by and see our bread. They are reminded of their childhood memories of when they used to eat this type of Mexcian bread. Our customers are over joyed to see someone else still making and selling traditional Mexican bread here in the USA. At first, all we sold was Pan de Fiesta but then as time passed we were able to obtain more and more recipes. Extending our menu to Gorditas de Nata, Pan de Burro, and seasonal bread such as Pan de Muerto and Rosca de Reyes.

What should our readers know about your business?
Guevara’s Bakery is located in Carson, California. The owner, Adolfo, is a third-generation baker from San Simon Coatepec, Puebla. With the support of his family, they have been baking and selling traditional bread typically sold throughout Mexico. Some of their highly praised products include Pan de Fiesta, Gorditas de Nata, Pan de Burro, and seasonal bread such as Pan de Muerto and Rosca de Reyes.

Business-wise it was nothing sort of bringing the best ingredients to make our traditional Mexican bread. With those ingredients came trail, error, and most importantly patience to make the best bread possible for our customers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to East Olympic Blvd. and South Central Ave. for their abundance of authentic Mexican foods and drinks. From there I would take them to see the Giffith Observatory, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Hollywood sign, explore the city, visit a museum or two, and finally end it off with the Santa Monic Pier

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This couldn’t have been possible without my mother’s help. Without her will and knowledge of learning how to make bread from her parents, baking bread now would not have been an option. Now, I am continuing the tradition as a third-generation baker here in Carson, California.

With support from TMC Community Capital and a grant from Greg & Jodi Perlman and the team from The Change Reaction, Guevara’s Bakery has flourished, allowing Adolfo and Jessie Guevara to focus on their craft and community. Their dedication, paired with community-driven support, highlights the power of small business lending as they continue sharing traditional Mexican pastries and carrying forward a cherished family tradition.
