We had the good fortune of connecting with Lawrence Murphy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LAWRENCE, what is the most important factor behind your success?
There are many factors that contribute to success, nothing short of hard work, commitment and consistency. Consistency may be the most important component as you have to keep at , be ready to be flexible and do what is necessary to be successful every day in light of an ever changing environment Discipline that helps create positive habits to meet ones goals is part of consistency. My clients know what they are getting – a personal trainer/ fitness coach that is passionate and walks the walk with them .

My accomplishments as a model include being featured in international fashion magazines such as Numero and 032 C. I have appeared on hundreds of romance book covers for best selling authors such as Renee Rose, and series such as the Highlander series, the Spitfire Society, and have been featured in both print and video advertisements for Weight Watchers and BPI sports . I am a two time WBFF( World Beauty Fitness Fashion) Pro Muscle Model Champion. His acting credits extend from parts in popular TV series (Blindspot) to movies – see IMDB and IG itslawrencemurphy.
I credit my success to my resilience and tenacity.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am and have been focused on personal fitness, training and coaching for the past 10 year while also working in the entertainment business on a wide range of shows including TV roles , movie appearances and music video performances. My passion is health and fitness so I have recently launched a website www.lawrencemurphyfitness.com and am in the process of creating a fitness app so that others can benefit from my personal experience and journey. I can offer each client the opportunity to get fit and stay fit.

My resilience has led me to my successes, When I think about resilience, I think about inner strength and pure determination, By definition, resilience is the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties.. In order to succeed, one must be resilient. I started playing sports at an early age- baseball ,basketball, lacrosse, swimming and then golf, gold and more golf. Playing sports and losing makes you tough, makes you reflect on what you need to do better the next time you are up to bat or need to make a long drive. Resilience is a state of mind that when coupled with tenacity and talent delivers success.

I want my clients to know that their journey to achieving life long fitness is very doable and I will commit to them both my energy and expertise to reach their goal . I believe in reaching one’s potential in every way that is meaningful, using my own experience to help others achieve their best. My approach for personal training encompasses the major components for good health and fitness: healthy nutrition plan/daily diet , individualized cardio and workout plans, with weekly adjustment. I want to offer my clients the opportunity to get fit and stay fit.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a tough one for me. My absolute love for working out would propel me to bring my guests to a number of gyms that I frequent -Zoo Culture, 24 hour Fitness Woodland Hills and GOLD GYM. I love golf so I would scope out some local courses for a few rounds, and hit the ball for as many holes as I could. To help my muscles recover, I would book an massage for me and my guest with my favorite and gifted physical therapist Jasmine to relieve the muscle tension.

Being an athlete, I love the outdoors and watching other athletes. Taking in a Dodgers or RAMS game, depending on the season would also be on my list. Lastly as my diet is fairly regimented, when I splurge, my cheat foods are the 3 P’s –Pancakes, Pizza and Pasta. Crave Cafe is one of my go to’s in Sherman Oaks along with La Cava for pasta!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out to all those coaches who invested time along the way but mainly my mom & brother who have been steadfast in their love, support and encouragement along my journey as an actor and my endeavors to build a fitness business — neither profession is easy . Everyone comes to LA to be a actor and only a few succeed. The fitness craze has exploded in the last 10 years, bringing lots of competition, many of who do not know as much as professed to give solid advice and manage fitness plans. My mom has been by my side through it all: the many competitions, challenges, disappointment and wins. Both have offered wisdom peppered with practicality and encouragement and I will forever be appreciative.
