We had the good fortune of connecting with Marguerite Nesteruk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marguerite, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Yes – one of my favorite quotes, which I often share during my herbal tea ceremonies, is by Sanchita Pandey: ‘Your intuitive powers increase when you are with plants because your mind is silenced and you become more aware in the present moment.’ I find this quote profoundly true, as it encapsulates the transformative connection between humans and Nature. When we take the time to slow down, tune into ourselves, and engage with the natural world, we create space for clarity and insight, allowing the answers we seek to naturally emerge.

What should our readers know about your business?
I spent my childhood and formative years exploring the woodlands, meadows, and gardens of Long Island, NY, & developed an early, heartfelt passion for the natural world. As an adult, I nurtured and transferred this passion into my professional life. Upon graduating from Parson’s School of Design in NYC, I set off for a year on a work-holiday visa in New Zealand. It was in New Zealand – amidst the organic farms, local vineyards, and verdant plains and mountains — that I realized I wanted to dedicate my life and work to Mother Earth and the natural world.

In the years since, I have worked as an Urban Farmer, Garden Director, Outdoor Environmental Educator, & School Garden Teacher. Many of these endeavors have involved teaching youth and adults about the healing benefits and techniques of growing herbs and edible plants. In 2016, I was also selected as one of five inspirational women to represent the earth friendly brand ‘Alba Botanica,’ in their “Women Doing Good: Do Good, Do Beautiful” campaign. With training in aspects of creating school gardens and permaculture design — and as a certified Master Gardener and Reiki Master — I have turned my talents to more deeply exploring the spiritual aspects of plant medicine, as well as the role of negative and positive energies on properties and land. Having completed courses in both herbal medicine and geomancy, I infuse my work with a more attuned understanding of the energetic properties of plants and the Earth, and their benefits to human well-being.

As an ‘Earth & Energy Practitioner,’ all the services I provide encompass energy work and the earth. My mission is to connect people more with themselves &/or Nature through various healing modalities. A lot of people would say I own a tea business. While a portion of that is definitely true, I don’t just work in tea. Instead, I use tea as the bridge between all my services to facilitate deeper healing and connection within self and with Nature.
My services include being a Reiki Master (for people & dogs), and a Geomancer (earth energy healer for land, space, & home). I also facilitate Herbal Tea Ceremonies & Tea Experiences for corporate, public, & private groups. And yes, I also have my own line of organic herbal tea blends.

In doing soul-led work like this, my business is a reflection of me, and that can be incredibly confronting at times. I am most proud of continuing to push through when I am challenged by being a solo entrepreneur. There are always times the Universe is testing me and my dedication to this work, and as a true Pisces I daydream easily. There are just so many things I didn’t know about owning a business that I was forced to learn as I go…and continue to. As long as I stay committed to my work, craft, and own self-healing, the only thing left is continued expansion.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have lived in Los Angeles for almost 10 years. I have lived on the east side, on the west side, and now in Malibu. I like to do a little bit of everything. This is a hard question for me to answer because I have been to so many places the past 10 years. Below is my very brief list in categories.

Activities ::
Malibu Wine Hikes – I used to work as a hike guide for this company and absolutely loved it! You can enjoy a guided hike on a beautiful ranch in Malibu that is surrounded by vineyards. You also get to do some wine tasting. They also offer 4×4 gator tours and VW bus tours to other local wine stops.

Catch a concert at The Greek or Hollywood Bowl.

Get more friends together (to make it more affordable) and charter a boat out of Marina Del Rey for a few hours or a full day. I attended a friend’s birthday party on a yacht last year and it was one of the best days of my year. I am also obsessed with boating and understand this activity may not be for everyone.

Rose Bowl – the second Sunday of every month the Rose Bowl becomes an incredible flea market.

Abierto – nestled in Point Dume, Malibu, this charming boutique captivates visitors with its thoughtfully curated selection of extraordinary gifts.

Restaurants ::
The Old Place – they are only open Thursday-Sunday and ideally you make reservations ahead of time so you can sit inside the restaurant, which is where all the fun action is. Otherwise, you will have to do window service and sit outside. Regardless, it is still a fun place to visit and off the beaten path located between Malibu and Agoura Hills in a ‘town’ called Cornell.

Gjusta – head here for delicious baked goods or a yummy breakfast/lunch. Based in Venice.

The Window (next to American Beauty in Venice) – I absolutely love their burger and fries.

Dudley Market – great food and incredible wine selection. Another favorite burger spot for me.

Hatchet Hall – I have only been here once but vividly remember loving absolutely everything, including the ambiance. Definitely one of my best meals in my 10 years in LA. Based in Culver City.

Taverna Tony – I basically go here for the bread basket & house dip. I get so full on that, and end up taking my entree leftovers home. The live Greek music they have on Friday & Saturday nights lends for a fun ambiance as well.

Cole’s French Dip – Known for their pastrami sandwich in Downtown LA. They have a Speak Easy in the back too!

Drink ::
Cornell Wines – it is right next door to The Old Place. It is primarily a wine bar, but they also have beer, and a small shop. They also have live music Friday nights, Open Mic nights, & Comedy Night.

Hinano – a classic dive bar in Venice that also has great burgers.

Hotel Erwin – head straight to the rooftop for their bar and overlook Venice Beach.

Santa Monica Proper Hotel – I absolutely love this hotel. Head to the rooftop for a drink.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this Shoutout to everyone who has supported me on my journey, both near and far. Whether through words of encouragement, attending my experiences, becoming valued clients, or purchasing my organic tea blends, your support fuels my passion and inspires me to continue this work. I am deeply grateful for each and every one of you.
