Meet Laurie Brazeau | design director….co-owner of Brazeau Tricot.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laurie Brazeau and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laurie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Being creative is the closest relationship between emotion and object. When i see women put on B.T. She feels more confident, more beautiful- that simple act connects me directly to the individual. There is pride and intimacy within the whole experience itself.
Creating is not a choice, rather an effortless, artistic outlet.
My imagination and ideas fuel my being and enable me to bring them to life. Designing via luxury natural fibers(specializing i cashmere) allows me to tell a new story every season, capturing the mood of the moment.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Throughout my career in fashion I’ve had the privilege of working with amazing teachers/mentors.
Jennifer Craig(jennnifer Craig showrooom) hired me upon graduating from F.I.D.M. She taught me how having great taste had nothing to do with money. Working with fashion that you love will naturally gravitate others toward the style you most desire to create.Follow the vision not the money. Suzanne Lerner ( ceo-Michael Stars) taught me to surround & hire people that know how to do something better than myself , this creates growth.Judy Hamburg taught me that merchandising a line can be as important as designing.Creates a cohesive story with in a collection. I’ve been fortunate to have worked with talented creative women through out my career.
I’m as infatuated with designing clothes today as the first day i started(30 years later)

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
