Meet Nehemiah Ubaga | CEO and Creative Director | Neyipac Entertainment

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nehemiah Ubaga and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nehemiah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business in 2010, which then I still reside in Nigeria. My father being a missionary from Nigeria, with several church located within the country. I started gaining the skill sets through doing work for my father’s church. Eventually, church members asked me to shoot and edit various projects for them and they loved my work. I continued to work on my skill set and more folks reached out to me for both photography and videography. It became a way for me to give back to my community as well. When I didn’t go off to college right away, I was looking for an opportunity to sink my time and brain power into. I used the examples set forth by my parents, as they always have given back to the community, to do the same through photography, videography, and exceptional post production. When I immigrated to the states, I officially registered my business in California and continued to network within the Nigerian and Black American Communities. The name ‘Neyipac’ from Neyipac Entertainment was inspired by half of my nickname, Neyi for Nehemiah and Pac, representing my admiration for my favorite artist, TuPac. I grew up listening to his music and was inspired by his story. He’s the sole reason I decided to move to California.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My approach to media and production services stems from my education background as an Engineer and also from my experience and love for telling stories through film/ pictures.
At Neyipac Entertainment, I use my skill sets as an Engineer / Data Analyst plus my experience in film, to be able to navigate the technical side of production while also using my creativity to tell stories through my work. I love telling stories – that’s my company’s slogan. When myself and my team set out on a job, the goal is to capture the content in a way that it depicts the essence of the event. At post-production, that’s where I allow my creativity to drive me, exhibiting quality and class.
With my technical skills I offer excellent quality, be that through my selection of camera equipment, lenses, etc. or through the editing process, I use the best systems to be able to handle the type of content I’m aiming to create. I have an eye for detail and I’m always cognizant of the viewer or audience’s perspective in a timely manner.
Above all, I’m a solution oriented artist with a high level of critical thinking. My goal is to deliver a beautiful product. I don’t just take pretty pictures or shoot video content – I aim to tell beautifully crafted stories.
It took a lot to get to where I am today, and I’m still climbing. Hard work, patience, and resilience are just the beginning of the requirements to succeed. You must sacrifice and put in the time. However defining success, comes at a cost. Sacrificing your time and labor is mandatory, but it’s so much more than that. In business, we learn that you’ll work on your mindset 80% of the time and the other 20% of the time is dedicated to actual craft. That couldn’t be more true. You need a strong mind and a strong understanding of your why to continue to push yourself forward. When you’re exhausted, working late nights and long hours, facing rejection, your mental strength and connection to your source are what will carry you forward.
Along the way, I have learned to hold the bull by the horn. Meaning, don’t run from fear of rejection – face it head on. Attack your problems square on. Hiding from problems, fear, setbacks will only hinder your progress. Also, I’ve learned to make peace with being uncomfortable. Business is not comfortable, and the journey to get to your ideal success will cost you comfort. Your reward is the person you become in the process, and the financial prosperity, is a byproduct. I have always believed in myself. Coming from humble beginnings was not a hinderance to my dreams, it’s my fuel.
I want the world to associate Nehemiah Ubaga and Neyipac Entertainment with exceptional quality, dedication and a drive that will surpass our clients’ expectations.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m Nigerian, so I’m taking everyone to the best place to experience Nigerian Cusinine in California, which is Veronica’s Kitchen in Inglewood. She’s been in business for over 40 years and you won’t find better Nigerian Cuisine.
Sports wise, we’re definitely going to a dodgers game or going to catch a game/ concert at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
I would also take guests along a drive up the coast. We’d spend time on the Santa Monica Pier, stop to eat fresh seafood in Malibu and then journey up to Santa Barbara.
Being the movie buff that I am, we’re also spending a day at Universal Studios theme park. It’s my favorite of all the theme parks in CA and a I love the behind the scenes experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife, Naikea Ward Ubaga. She has been an amazing support system to myself personally and professionally. She has played a cardinal role in my understanding and adaptation of the American systems and culture necessary to build a business, also to my Nigerian community, with the maximum referrals.
