Meet Marco Pelusi | Celebrity Haircolorist/stylist, Salon owner, Haircolor Educator and HairCare Manufacturer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marco Pelusi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marco, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had the beautiful opportunity at a young age to work in-house as an educator and then a product developer at an Italian haircolor company. After having enjoyed this work, and then later, after having created a strong, entertainment-based hair clientele here in LA, I knew I wanted my own space, my own brand, my own products! I didn’t want to even do an opening order with another product company when my salon opened in 2005 – I wanted my products ready for the opening! I found the right salon space, and the right chemist to manufacture my HairCare products.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart from others is my specific background growing up in the hair business back east with a family chain of salons – along with my professional experience working in-house at haircolor companies. I will say that my business has flowed well, even through the challenges. I embrace the challenges and turn them into opportunities wherever I can. I worked hard to build my clientele, find good staff, create good products; and most importantly, develop and maintain relationships. This is the biggest lesson is to create good relationships throughout my career – and the other lesson is to not quit! I’d like the world to know that everything I do comes from a honest place of know-how and experience and integrity.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d start near my salon in West Hollywood, I’d go to Craig’s Restaurant on Melrose for dinner. If we stayed overnight, we would stay at La Peer Hotel. All near my Robertson salon. Then, we would go up the hill to Bel Air, have lunch at the Beverly Glen Deli, and dinner at the Italian restaurant Fabrocini’s. Then one day for certain we would drive out to Malibu and walk out onto the beach… whoever is visiting will simply fall in love with our gorgeous coast … and we would dine at Geoffrey’s Malibu for an oceanfront dining experience… also one day we would drive to Santa Monica and eat lunch at Shutters on the Beach, there are some beachside tables there… lovely.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My dad. Dad’s been there for me, every single step of the way, from the beginning. He has supported me in every single area of my work and my business. He continues to do so as we both get older, too! He is incredible! So blessed.
