We had the good fortune of connecting with Vini Merola and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vini, how do you think about risk?
When you have a desire for a goal hard to get, risk is something that you have to get used to. A lot of people can’t go through it because fear walks besides risk. So you have to occupy your mind with determination and focus, and not let fear get to much space. I had to put that in my mind since the beginning of my journey in the music industry. There’s no guarantee in any level and you can’t do it if you’re not hole in the persecution of what you want. So there it is a very good example of taking risks.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what makes me different from other artists and producers is the fact that I really treat every music with respect. Never liked to take a lot of tracks to produce, more that I can handle with due care, for fast money. And the fact that every single music has something different from another to tell, makes my work very interesting and dynamic. Every song has its history Money has been a very big struggle since the beginning of my career, especially in Brazil, that audio equipments and gadgets are very expensive, everything must be imported, and also, there aren’t a lot of good learning institutions in audio engineering. What makes the good ones even more expensive. I think the best way that I found to deal with the obstacles was to have patience and discipline. Usually, everything that matters in life have some struggle to get, so I’ve understood that since the beginning, and tried to fight against each problem at a time. I think what I can say to the world is: Don’t work on your dreams less than 120% of yourself.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in São Paulo, and definitely come to SP without hang out in Paulista Avenue would be a shame. We have on the weekends a kind of sunset event named Varanda Estaiada that I would take any friend to, a high gastronomy restaurant with good drinks and amazing view that people love to hang out here. It’s hard to choose between all the variety of restaurants and pubs that we have here, but for sure I would go at least once to some kind of rooftop night club.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to thank my family and my true friends that stood up for me, and believed in my “crazyness” until this day.
