We had the good fortune of connecting with Bily Ruiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bily, what’s your definition for success?
My philosophy of what success looks like for a person is when they reach something they never have before, whether big or small. Each step forward in the journey is success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Khaotic Quads is a weekly rollerskater link up at Inglewood Pumptrack in Inglewood near the cemetery. Our intention is to skate, have fun, connect with other rollerskaters & overall maintain wellness. “KHAOTIC” is an acronym and our philosophy. Our rollerskate meet ups started off in January 2024 with just a few of us but we have grown. People from Azusa, Leimert Park, Westmont, Monterey Park, Long Beach, Chinatown, Downtown LA, Lynwood, Harbor City, West Hollywood, Inglewood, West Adams, Koreatown, Wilmington & South Central all come to meet up at the pumptrack to skate and share vibes. It is so much fun.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Inglewood Pumptrack! It is such a fun place to be whether or not your rolling around. I love to pull up a chair or blanket in the grass, soak up the sun, and watch the amazing skaters/bikers/people riding the track. Love hanging out AND riding with my Khaotic Quads crew.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My father Michael is my biggest inspiration. He is a Gemini rising and Pisces sun with a Capricorn moon. He has always been an empathetic, friendly, and responsible person. I’d like to say I get that from him. I also feel supported by my newly found friends, many also creatives, in Los Angeles since moving here in 2016 as an 18 year old college student. Some new friends & acquaintances I have to thank for inspiring me to want to keep going forward in my creative pursuits: Sebastian (self taught potter), Zahnia (queer agender creative), August (some typa artiste), Franky (sex symbol of gen Z &____), Shani (hoopologist, art model and rollerskater), Jet (creative, rollerskater, freespirit), Ginger (designer & creative), Ivan (community organizer & skater), JJ (tattoo artist & creative) Bri Giger (actress, comedian & DJ), Princess (DJ, model, & artist) and Nori Marshall (inglewood make up artist, part time stunna, & full time hustler). The LA Rollerskating scene overall & CutiesLA have contributed greatly to me finding my most favorite connections! Shoutout to all my peeps in Khaotic Quads, we meet up at Inglewood Pumptrack weekly for about a year now—that’s been a new joy in my life that I am so grateful for. Amazing people.
