Meet Pratyush Proach | Researcher & Product-Developer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Pratyush Proach and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pratyush, how do you think about risk?
For me, risk is the foundation of innovation—it’s about stepping into uncertainty with confidence. Every meaningful project I’ve worked on required taking calculated risks, pushing boundaries, and embracing setbacks as learning opportunities.
Each of the innovations came with challenges—tight deadlines, technical failures, and financial constraints. Balancing them with academic pressures meant sleepless nights in workshops and test vehicles, but every risk taken brought me closer to impactful solutions.
It has shaped my resilience, adaptability, and ability to lead teams while creating technology that serves real-world needs. I see risk as a catalyst for growth, both personally and professionally. It often pushes you beyond your comfort zone, but that’s where real transformation happens.Throughout my journey, I’ve faced challenges that tested my resilience and taught me the importance of focus and decisiveness. I’ve learned that knowing when to pivot, fully commit, or let go is crucial. This clarity has helped me set boundaries and stay aligned with my long-term vision. While risk often comes with difficult decisions and personal sacrifices, it also reveals new opportunities and a deeper sense of purpose. Ultimately, it’s through these moments of uncertainty that I’ve discovered the strength to persevere and the courage to create meaningful impact.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve had the privilege of working on projects that address critical challenges, such as developing a blind-spot mitigation system to improve driver and passenger safety and designing an affordable solution to reduce heat buildup in parked vehicles—an issue leading to fatalities, especially of pets and pregnant women. My focus has always been on creating solutions that enhance safety, sustainability, and quality of life.
I don’t just build prototypes; I aim to create lasting, tangible impacts. My work is grounded in the belief that technology should serve humanity. Whether enhancing road safety, improving agricultural efficiency, or advancing wearable tech, my goal is to solve real-world problems with scalable solutions. I’m particularly proud of my blind-spot reduction device, which addresses a critical need today. I’ve also developed a robotic system for weed removal in farming and am finalizing a smart glasses prototype to enhance human-environment interaction. Additionally, I’ve authored research papers set for publication, reflecting my commitment to both innovation and academic progress.
The journey to where I am today hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced resource constraints, technical failures, and personal challenges, but each setback has been an opportunity for growth. The process has taught me that failure is not an end but a stepping stone. Resilience, adaptability, and perseverance have been key lessons, and I’ve learned the value of collaboration along the way.
What I want the world to know is that my work is driven by a desire to create meaningful change. I focus on solutions that improve lives, enhance safety, and contribute to sustainability. For me, success isn’t defined by quick wins—it’s about dedication, persistence, and the belief that even the smallest innovation can make a big impact.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My friends and I are all about getting out into nature. There’s nothing like hiking up a mountain, crashing in a cozy cabin, feeling that cool breeze, and just soaking up the quiet of a clear night. We’re not the kind to plan every minute—we like to go with the flow and see where the day takes us.
For our week-long trip, we’re planning to mix it up. We’ll hit some scenic mountain trails for those killer views, maybe kick back by a quiet lake, and if we’re in the mood, try out some kayaking. And of course, we’ll be on the lookout for a hidden waterfall—that’s always a fun surprise. We’re also planning to check out a few heritage sites along the way; it’s cool to get a glimpse of the local history and culture. Evenings are all about good food, comfy places to crash, and just lying back and taking it all in. Simple, but that’s what makes it special.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My journey wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of my family, mentors, teammates, and friends who believed in my vision. Their encouragement, wisdom, and collaboration have been instrumental in shaping my path. I’m also grateful for the books, tools, and challenges that pushed me to grow. Every setback, lesson, and breakthrough has contributed to where I am today. Throughout my path, I’ve encountered individuals whose presence—whether brief or lasting—has shaped my growth in meaningful ways. Some people entered my life, contributed to my journey, and moved on, but their impact remained. I believe every connection carries a lesson, even if it’s not immediately apparent.
I also find strength in a deeper sense of faith—a quiet, guiding force that provides clarity and resilience during challenging times. It’s often in moments of struggle that we learn to appreciate the smallest details and find value in unexpected places. For that, I’m grateful to both the people and experiences that have contributed to my journey.
