We had the good fortune of connecting with Giovanni Bravo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Giovanni, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The success of Food Fiesta Carts comes from my determination and readiness to embrace risks. I seized every opportunity that presented itself and that either boosted my success or taught me invaluable lessons which continuously pushed me toward success.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What truly sets us apart is holding the title of “Los Angeles’ oldest and most loved food cart catering service”, and for good reason! I believe that food is the heart of every celebration and I aim to bring fun and flavor to any event!

While our food carts can be custom to match any theme, our iconic carnival-style carts are a crowd favorite. They create an atmosphere of joy, nostalgia, and excitement for kids and adults alike.

In today’s world, where food is just a click away for takeout or delivery, our team prepares your food on-site right before guests, serving meals at their peak, ensuring every bite is hot, fresh, and flavorful. From hand-picked ingredients to carefully crafted recipes, we turn every meal into a memorable experience from cart to plate. I am incredibly proud when clients return, choosing us time and time again for their special occasions. It’s a heartfelt reminder that by simply loving what I do and embracing my unique approach, we create memorable experiences that resonate with them. Their trust and continued support mean the world to us.

My passion for food has brought me to where I am today. It all began when I started working for “Let’s Have a Cart Party.” at only 16 years old. I have always enjoyed cooking at home and hosting family dinners. When I discovered that catering was about more than just food—that it was about creating moments that bring people together—I knew I had found my true career. I took the time to immerse myself in every event I catered, paying close attention to each ingredient and every aspect of the planning process from beginning to end, eager to learn everything I could.

At 20, I became a father, and that changed everything. Parenthood became my top priority, and I had to put everything else on hold while I figured out how to balance it all. Being a parent wasn’t the challenge, it was wanting to show up as the best version of myself in every part of my life, especially as a young dad. I wanted to be an example for my daughter, showing her to always give 110% in everything you do. So, I joined culinary school and worked toward building a career and business we could both be proud of. A few years later, I started Food Fiesta Carts catering.

When COVID hit, the world changed, and the challenges became even greater for so many of us. Celebrations became smaller and less frequent. But like many, we had to adapt. We wore masks, practiced safe distancing, and even participated in drive-by catering events. It was a steep learning curve, but it showed me how flexible and resilient we can be. Through it all, we kept pushing forward by doing what was necessary to keep the business alive and growing – even when the odds were against us. As businesses closed throughout the country, my former employer “Let’s Have a Cart Party” was looking to retire. They had experienced my drive and passion first-hand and reached out in hopes that I could take over. This moment was undoubtedly life-changing, to be handed the baton and opportunity to further grow my existing business by merging with an already established and successful company. I knew that times were tough and my own business was on pause, along with the world. But my risk-taking kicked in and I went full in. A decision I would never regret, because as things started looking up for all, they also did for me. The journey to my success has been anything but easy, but what got me here has been fueled by my adaptability and drive to be an anchor for my family.

I want everyone to know that Food Fiesta Carts is more than just a catering service; it embodies our values. As a small Latino-owned business, I deeply appreciate the importance of diversity. Our team consists of individuals from various backgrounds, reflecting the rich tapestry of the world around us. We bring that spirit to every event we cater. Through every meal served, we want to inspire connection, harmony, and unity where everyone feels welcome, valued, and celebrated, regardless of race, gender, status, or personal beliefs.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend were to visit me in Los Angeles for the first time, I would be thrilled to show them around the city that has stolen my heart. My biggest love and passion has always been food, therefore restaurants would be a big part of his/her visit. To name a few, I would take them to Javier’s, Marisco’s Choix, and Bravo’s Kitchen.

Being adventurous and a thrill seeker, I would take my friend off-roading. Riding ATV quads is my favorite pastime. Another must-do and one of my hobbies is bowling, therefore, a friendly competitive afternoon is a must. I am also working on receiving my pilot license, so I would love to take a friend for a ride-along and show them the beautiful views I experience during every lesson.

Los Angeles is home to many breathtaking views, making Griffith Park a great hiking experience for them. Of course, after the hike, we’d visit the observatory for a scenic experience of the LA skyline and Hollywood sign.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m very thankful to Kenny, a great friend and mentor. He opened doors for me in this field and took me under his wing, allowing me to learn the ropes of running a catering business firsthand. Honestly, I wouldn’t be where I am today without his support, and I will always appreciate the impact that his support has made on my journey.
