We had the good fortune of connecting with Vale Grille and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vale, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always been a good student; I love learning and doing things as well as possible. I had always imagined myself as a successful engineer, but when dance entered my life, everything started to change. I fell so deeply in love with this art that I began dedicating more and more of my time to it. As I progressed both in my country and internationally, I found myself struggling between what I had always envisioned for my future and what I truly wanted.

I had been accepted into one of the most prestigious engineering programs in Chile with an outstanding entrance score, and for a while, I managed to balance my studies with dance quite well. However, after two years and a break, I realized that even though I was capable of handling both, I wasn’t happy. It wasn’t what I truly wanted. In the end, I made the drastic decision to leave my studies behind and fully commit to dance. From that moment on, there was no other option and no turning back.

The desire to build a sustainable career doing what I love and am passionate about became the foundation for creating something solid—something that would allow me to grow, share my knowledge and skills with others, and take on new challenges with confidence. I made the decision with a lot of fear, but with absolute trust that I would make it work.

I didn’t want to depend on the instability of the entertainment industry, waiting for the next show to come along to generate income. Teaching dance has always been something I love, and I knew that building my own business would give me both the stability and the freedom to do what truly fulfills me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It hasn’t been easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. There have been many highs, but also lows that can be discouraging and confusing. However, I’ve learned to see those moments from a broader perspective, using them as lessons and fuel to push toward my next goal. Sometimes, it’s harder than others and takes time, but eventually, the moment to see it that way always comes. That has always been my approach to every challenge.

Over time, I have learned to let go of my pride and ask for help, to stop trying to do everything alone, to break down my long-term goals into smaller milestones so I can truly see and feel my progress, to never sacrifice my vision for the sake of others’ opinions, and to trust in my work, my experience, and my art.

I want the world to know that, from the very end of the world, in a country isolated by a vast ocean and towering mountains, there are people creating art—art that is meant to be shared and taken beyond borders

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my friend on a great beach day at Point Dume Beach in Malibu, making sure to stop for a delicious açaí bowl at What a Peach in Studio City for brunch. To end the night, we’d go rooftop rollerskating—such a fun and unique experience!

A classic Downtown LA tour would be a must. We’d visit The Broad Museum, take a walk through the Blue Ribbon Garden at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, have lunch at Grand Central Market, and ride the historic Angels Flight Railway. We’d wrap up the evening at Echo Park Lake, paddling around in the swan boats once the sun has set and enjoying a good Margarita in Bar Las Flores.

Other must-do activities include watching the sunset from the Ferris wheel at Santa Monica Pier and spending an adrenaline-packed day at Six Flags for thrill-seekers.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Someone who truly made an impact on me was my friend Brigitte Kattan. At that time, we weren’t very close yet, but during my moment of greatest fear and confusion—when I was unsure whether to leave my career behind and fully commit to dance—I spoke with her. She was already an established and recognized choreographer in my country, and her words are something I will never forget. They gave me the courage to take the leap and trust myself in that very instant.

I also want to give a huge shoutout to everyone who believes in my vision, passion, knowledge, and skills—but most importantly, in the love I put into everything I do. Today, between my regular courses and my dance company, there are more than 90 people training with me, investing their time, money, and trust in me—some of them have been doing so for years. This is something I deeply value, and it continuously pushes and motivates me to keep growing and give my very best.
