We had the good fortune of connecting with Ramon Montagner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ramon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Hi everyone, as a professional musician I have accompanied many artists in Brazil and although it is a decent job and sometimes very well paid, I started to think about creating my own albums, books and works, trying to be the artist myself, the central idea, always trying to generate relevant content for listeners, students and clients. Of course it was and is a long and arduous process, but it is very rewarding and I feel that, over time, I have done important work in the development and methodological organization of new techniques for drummers around the world.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been a professional musician for 36 years, and I have accompanied many Brazilian artists and taken flight in my personal career as an artist for years. Perhaps what sets me apart is the fact that I have been developing different technical and musical paths when it comes to drums. It is a very difficult career when it comes to Brazil, but the difficulties have always motivated me from the beginning. I try to be persistent and view the daily practice of the instrument as a devotion. I have always had a phrase in my head: If nothing works out, it will not be for lack of effort on my part, of hours of practice and because of that, giving up time with my family and loved ones. I have within me the desire to be relevant and to show my ideas and with that inspire others to strive as I have, but I would not do everything to be successful. I believe that this is in God’s hands, and if it is to work out, it has to be under His blessings. It is difficult to “rest in the Lord”, but it is a necessary and essential virtue as a human being, at least in my point of view.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would invite them on a trip to Italy, the land of my great-grandparents. We would eat delicious food and spend some quality time seeing the archaeological treasures of this beautiful country. I feel a special emotion every time I travel to this country, and knowing that they built many of the foundations of our Western civilization with other important peoples, with their strengths and weaknesses, is a factor that generates a natural interest in that region. I would go from Taormina to Rome, Naples and Milan and to the far north, to the region of my ancestors, Treviso. I think it would be a very special trip!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my career mainly to Jesus, for the gift of life and music. And also to my family, Lidia, my wife, Matheus and Lorena, my children.
