We had the good fortune of connecting with Larry Marshall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Larry, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
When you’re a videographer for small businesses, you’re actually doing multiple full time jobs as a Jack-of-all-trades. A producer, marketer, lighting chief, cameraman, sound operator, and editor. It is extremely hard to be good at all of them!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I want to elevate others, that’s what gives me my kick. It’s rewarding to have a hand in helping incredible people and their services get discovered and thrive. I feel that video lets me do that and have a ripple effect. I had to learn how to approach so many different modalities from a curious customer viewpoint and challenge people to address the concerns their customers have. Empathy is the tool that has allowed me to relate and understand, which comes naturally to me thankfully!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them to Disneyland because I’m Not-So-Secretly-a-Disney-Adult! Unleash and unwind there with rides and yes, even some drinks!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
WIPA (Wedding Industry Professionals Association) has helped and encouraged me to be me and elevate others. I enjoy helping other’s pursue their dreams…that’s my dream actually. And in my journey to help other’s, no one has been more encouraging and helpful than Holly Gray of Anything But Gray Events. She was the only planner who reached out to me when I knew no one in LA and introduced me to the friendship circle I now enjoy.
