Meet Hannah Said | Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Said and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
One of the most important habits that helped me succeed with Saffron Cowboy was staying deeply connected to my purpose—creating a space where diverse communities could gather over quality coffee. I made a habit of being present in the day-to-day operations, listening to customers, and building genuine relationships, which helped foster a welcoming and loyal community. Consistency in quality and service was also key; I ensured that every cup of coffee met a high standard and that my team understood the importance of hospitality. Additionally, I embraced adaptability, constantly learning from feedback and making adjustments to improve both the experience and the business. Lastly, I prioritized strong communication and collaboration with my team, creating an environment where they felt valued and invested in the vision of Saffron Cowboy.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Saffron Cowboy is more than just a coffee business—it’s a gathering space designed to bring diverse communities together over high-quality coffee and intentional hospitality. What sets us apart is our deep commitment to inclusivity, storytelling, and creating an environment where people feel truly seen and welcomed. We’re not just serving coffee; we’re cultivating relationships, honoring cultural traditions, and creating a space where people from all walks of life can connect.
Getting to where we are today has been a journey filled with both passion and challenges. It wasn’t easy—building a business that stays true to its values while navigating the realities of the industry required resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to our vision. One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that we stayed financially sustainable while maintaining the integrity of our mission. We overcame these obstacles by listening—really listening—to our customers, our team, and our community, and adjusting our approach while staying rooted in our purpose.
Some of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way include the importance of patience, the power of collaboration, and the need to balance ambition with sustainability. You can’t rush meaningful impact, and you can’t do it alone. Surrounding yourself with the right people, staying open to feedback, and continuously learning are key to longevity and success.
What I want the world to know about Saffron Cowboy is that we are here to do more than just serve coffee—we are here to create a space that celebrates culture, fosters connection, and nurtures community. Our story is about bringing people together in a way that feels real, intentional, and deeply human.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Morning: Start with a slow morning at Neighbors and Friends, my café in Old Town Pasadena. A cup of our best brew and a breakfast sandwich to ease into the day.
Afternoon: Walk around Old Town Pasadena, exploring small shops, bookstores, and checking out local street art.
Evening: Dinner at Cacao in Eagle Rock —a cozy, mexican spot with comforting dishes and a warm vibe.
Nightcap: Drinks at Checker Hall a low-key, vinyl-focused bar with an excellent music selection.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d dedicate my shoutout to the communities that have supported and shaped Saffron Cowboy—our customers, who bring their stories, cultures, and conversations to our space, and the team that pours their heart into every cup. A special shoutout to my business partner, whose creativity and dedication have been essential in making this vision a reality. I’d also recognize the mentors and fellow entrepreneurs who have shared their wisdom and experiences, helping navigate the challenges of building a coffee business rooted in inclusivity and connection.
