We had the good fortune of connecting with CeCe HENDRIKS and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi CeCe, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learned in business may sound cliche but it is a true reality. And that is to Never give up and never, ever let someone talk you out of your path and or vision. I also have learned that sometimes even your friends are not your biggest support nor your ally.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My Business is called SPOILED! and it’s located at 8178 Melrose Avenue. We also have an on-line presence. It’s a  high-end consignment store for children. We re-sale designer brands such as Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Ikks, Fendi etc for infants up to 14. What sets us apart is that we are more upscale than most consignor children stores and we sale our clothes for a fraction of the cost. We pride ourselves in selling items that are very gently worn to new. We have achieved our success due to word of mouth and straight forward marketing. Some of the most challenging times, as most retail stores, are the non seasonal months. This always creates anxiety due to finances. With these months we try to market more and create sale campaigns. Starting any business is hard and takes focus, emotional strength, perseverance and lots of drive. That is how I have succeeded. I want the world to know that we, especially at this time make sure that every article that we accept in our store is looked at with a fine tooth comb and we only accept the best and our prices are reasonable. We treat every customer and or consignor with class and a smile. We are now in our 6th year and hope to continue making kids smile and feel good about their hip threads.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Normally when my friends come out (being that I’m a bit of a socialite) I would invite them to some amazing celebrity parties. I would also take them out to a couple of great places and particularly my favorite restaurants such as Mastro’s in Beverly Hills, Nobu Malibu, Katana on Sunset, The Cut in Beverly Hills, Perch downtown , Craigs LA and now my new favorite: Gucci’s new rooftop Restaurant Gucci Osteria Massimo. For great drinks and atmosphere I would suggest EP/LP, The Abbey, The Roger Room, Catch LA and Harriets rooftop.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout out to my Consignors , Clients and Friends who have supported me and a very special shout out to Zenay Burton who without her push I would have never got the courage to create my successful company. I also want to thank my mother and grandmother who taught me to persevere until you succeed!
