Meet Gaby Martinez | Hair Color/ Cut Specialist and Dmk Paramedical Skin Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gaby Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gaby, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As a native New Yorker and graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, I spent over 15 years immersed in the fashion world, splitting my time between New York and Los Angeles. While I loved the creativity and energy of that industry, the constant travel took a toll on my skin and hair. Despite visiting some of the most beautiful salons across the country, I struggled to find a space that truly catered to working professionals—somewhere serene, efficient, and personalized, with a strong focus on both skin and hair health.
That realization inspired a shift. I envisioned a one-on-one salon experience rooted in wellness, education, and comfort—offering plant-based skin care, low-ammonia color, precision haircuts, organic teeth whitening, airbrush spray tans, and waxing, all in a tranquil, private setting. Whether my guests are conducting meetings, need early morning appointments, want to bring their pets, or simply seek a quiet retreat, they receive undivided attention in a space tailored to them. Each client leaves with both a result and the knowledge to maintain it—every guest is taught how to blow dry and style their hair, and skin care education is built into every visit.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
After graduating at the top of my cosmetology class, I developed a clear business plan and launched my studio with a strong vision. Within two years, I built a full clientele exclusively by appointment, with steady referrals. I also host skin care events in other cities, providing personalized treatments in private, welcoming spaces. I continue to support clients virtually with FaceTime follow-ups and customized product shipments to ensure consistent results.
As for challenges they don’t really exist, they are really opportunities in disguise. You’ll learn from each, it’s a matter of perspective.
Also, it’s important to ask for help no one does anything of significance, without the help of others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many fun places to eat in LA it all depends on your preference. But I would definitely go to the beautiful Getty Villa in Malibu and the waterfalls in Pasadena.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many people that helped and supported me along the way to reach my goals to which I am grateful for. My biggest raving fan who I’d like to give a shoutout is my brother, Larry who has always believed in me and cheered me on every step of the way.
I also want to acknowledge a fantastic book that I encourage every entrepreneur to read- A Purposeful Performance by Jonathan Stanley.
