We had the good fortune of connecting with Page Person and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Page, how do you think about risk?
As an artist, the goal is to take risks and find unique modes of expression that are suited to your needs in the time and place you exist in. Every individual is so unique, it’s what makes this life worth living. I have grown increasingly bold in forging my own path as a creative person. I am always surprising myself in how much space opens up when you push at your own boundaries.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been exhibiting my art for over 30 years. When I came out as trans I lost the support of collectors and galleries and needed to find new avenues to express myself. I started performing in nightlife and found a community to support my creativity. I saw this as an opportunity to say I AM A PERSON in as many ways as possible to a world that attempts to dehumanize people like me. I learned that being open and honest about my experiences was the best way to connect with people. I learned that making things fun opens an audience up so they can be receptive to and honest and vulnerable conversation about what we value in life. What is beautiful about this life is that we all have our own unique ways of living it and sharing with each other enriches all of us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
During the day we would hike in one of LA’s amazing parks and experience the beautiful landscapes the city is built on. We could see art at museums and galleries and then eat at Grand Central Market or take a tour of taco stands. At night we would go to a drag show at Precinct followed by dancing all night at an after hours warehouse party. All of this can be found within ten minutes of Downtown Los Angeles without having to sit in traffic!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
