We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Curtis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, how do you think about risk?
Definitely risk taking is very important in success, Without the courage to take the risk to stop chasing money and start chasing your dreams. I would have never realize that it’s my passion and skills that are actually the right way to earn money and achieve happiness.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I guess starting out I always knew I wanted to work with tools. I just wasn’t cut out for like the desk type job. I always took random jobs doing different types of construction and when I found Electrical, I just kind of fell in love with it and started learning all I could about it. Being so passionate for electricity and energy allow my to become very skilled in my field and I got lots of recognition. This allow me to take several different job opportunities in that field and allow me to grow. The passion I have for my work is what helped me get here today. I am now a Renewable Energy Engineer or Bioengineer. A little description of what I actually do now in Renewable energy. We take old expiring food from grocery stores and other stores around Southern California. Then we run it through a process, which which turns it into bio gas. We then use that biogas to run biodiesel generators and power, distribution centers, and facilities with our energy and I can truly say I love what I do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m big outdoorsy guy so camping, hiking , fishing, and off-roading are always my first choices. If we’re going out for a nice dinner old town Pasadena has a lot of great restaurants to choose from. As for bars and night life, York Blvd and Figueroa st in Highland park is were you’ll find my friends and I relaxing and having some laughs. After that Highland park has no shortage of taco trucks for that adventure home snack.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well definitely all the bosses I e had deserve some recognition. I’ve so many different jobs and without them giving me a shot, I may not have found my true passion. Also my friends and family and the neighborhood where I grew up, who have always supported me and our community.
