We had the good fortune of connecting with Tori Star Klempa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tori Star, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I think risk is simply walking by faith. When I take my risks, I know that God has me covered, provided for me and that specific action was put on my heart for a reason. Risk is one of the most exciting and scariest things you could take but it’s necessary, especially when you’re betting on yourself. I moved to Los Angeles almost 5 years ago with my cousin from Boston. We moved here on a complete WHIM. Very little money. No job. No car. No place to live. Not much of a plan… just a couple of suitcases and a dream! That risk led me to living out my dream and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve spoken about living in California before I even visited here! It brought me back to my childhood hobbies and more importantly my calling as a Life Coach. I made all of this happen for myself and I want others, especially women, to know they can do it! Whatever that vision is you have of yourself, I want to be a supporter of that. These are things I’ve journaled about. Taking risks will really put you out of your comfort zone which is ESSENTIAL to growth. You really get to see how you maneuver and take on situations when your back is against the wall. Los Angeles is a big city to take on and I wouldn’t have made the connections I did or learned about myself in the way I have without risk. I know I can take on anything. My resilience and confidence has really elevated. When it’s my time to leave here, I want to know I’ve done and tried everything I possibly could!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is truly my calling. This was something that called me CONSTANTLY. I tried focusing on other things because I wasn’t sure I was qualified for such a role but when God calls you to something, it won’t stop…. you have to pick up. What sets me apart is simply my story. I can see, hear and understand people like no other, sometimes even before I know a lot about them and in the most special way possible. I am a Life Coach for Women, specifically working towards mindset shifts, confidence and manifesting a life they desire to live and ARE WORTH LIVING!
My journey started about 6 years ago, right before I moved to Los Angeles. I was in an unhealthy relationship. I didn’t know what love was, especially for myself. I didn’t think I was worth much, I would call myself ugly which is sad to think. I didn’t know my values, what I wanted to do with my life, what I stood for. I was anxious all the time and dependent on men. I found myself in another dating relationship where all my insecurities resurfaced and I told myself “I will NEVER feel this way again” I stopped dating men and started dating myself, I started learning who I was: dislikes and likes, finding new hobbies, working out. I am so proud of how far I’ve come. I’ve attracted so many incredible opportunities, I’ve made a life for myself BY MYSELF. I feel incredible and I want to be able to be a cheerleader for women who are searching for that themselves.

I’m most excited about seeing the transformation of lives and just being there to celebrate the growth of the women I work with. It really touches my soul and gets me emotional when I see someone enjoying their life. My work centers around figuring out what those blocks are, the negative beliefs and self talk and where the root is. Then we work on re-writing these narratives and challenging my clients to do the uncomfortable things, this is how you build confidence. A whole journey of self discovery, THEIR way.

I named it BUTRFLY Coaching because I love butterflies but they’re the ultimate sign of transformation. You can look and feel completely different once your done with your own discovery and new narrative!

I face challenges all the time whether it’s my imposter syndrome or trying to figure out how to market myself. Entrepreneurship is hard because all you have is you and sometimes you just have to figure it out. I want anyone reading this to know that sometimes things do get hard but to keep going and that it all works out when you move with intention.

All in all, my brand is: IT’S POSSIBLE! Don’t let your dreams die and continue to fight for you! That it doesn’t matter where you come from, what your circumstances are now or what people are telling you, you are worthy and can change the position you’re in if you’re committed. Also, if you don’t have the support, you have me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My interests have certainly changed as I’ve gotten older so my itinerary would definitely fit the elder demographic (lol). I would take them to Mulholland Drive to see the view. This is where I went a lot when I first moved here and just journaled about the life I was going to live, it was inspiring. I would take them to some of the museums out here, The Broad has been my favorite: the infinity room is a great exhibit! The Rooftop Cinemas out here are really great. We don’t have much of those in Boston, we’d catch a movie there. Get some hikes in, there’s one trail I typically go to up by Griffith Observatory, it’s peaceful in the morning. Some food spots I’d take them to would be Osteria La Buca or Bacari. COMEDY SHOWS! having a laugh together is great bonding time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First. Always. God. I couldn’t have made it this far without his presence. He keeps me humbled and grounded. When I feel overwhelmed and too far off, he brings me right back. He continues to show me his hand and that he is forever present within my journey and keeping me covered. I want to shout out my cousin Neesh, I don’t think I could’ve made such big move without her. My sisters also, they mean so much to me. They are such intelligent young women. I am so proud of how focused they are but I also want to show them that they can do anything they want in this life. Also, just anyone who’s given me the opportunity out here in Los Angeles whether it was for connection or experience, it has really helped me figure out my lane in my journey.
