Meet MATCHHOUSE | Rock Band

We had the good fortune of connecting with MATCHHOUSE and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi MATCHHOUSE, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
We view risk as a necessity. If you’re not taking risks or chances in life that means you’re staying in your comfort zone, and when you’re staying in your comfort zone, you’re not growing.
Betting on yourself and your music, your message, that’s huge. When it’s a feeling deep in your bones that screams “I’ve got a story to tell” letting it out can feel risky because it’s vulnerable and raw, and you. It’s risky to put yourself out there but the leap of faith is exhilarating and when someone comes up to you and says your music touched them, that just tells us we’re on the right path. We believe in being bold. Taking a risk is acknowledging you have a destiny.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We make the music we wish existed. Our favorite artists, across all mediums, are not just story tellers, but world builders. We want to build a world that people take refuge in and resonate with. We’ve always been fans of constructive escapism.
We’ve always felt that the best way to stand out is to be unequivocally ourselves, to not chase any trend or try to fill any mold. We don’t sound like anyone else. And we embrace that.
We are really proud of the two singles we’ve put out so far, “The Wire” and our newest release “Wrapped In Blue”. We also can’t wait for the world to hear this next batch of songs we’ve recorded that are being mixed in the studio now slated to come out on our upcoming debut EP. Furthermore we’ve been proud of our ability to stick it out as a unit and a brotherhood through the ups and downs of life through thick and thin to bring this thing that’s greater than all of us, our art, to life. It hasn’t always been easy, we’ve seen each other through a lot to get to where we are today. But we stand united nonetheless.
A lot of the lessons we’ve learned come through in the lyrics of our songs. We’ve learned about the fragile nature of time, life, love, and what it means to commit to something wholeheartedly and to place belief in oneself above anything.
We want people to know that our music and band is mercurial and beautiful and imperfect, but we lean on each other to get by. Music has always been there for us when we needed it, and we want ours to be there for the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start the day off by hitting the beach, catching some waves, then grab lunch over at our favorite diner Rae’s. After that, we’d head over to catch some live music at The Viper Room, The Troubadour, or Davey Wayne’s in Hollywood.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’d like to give thanks to the Skip The Record parties that were held here every month. The talent, the personalities, the scene that wound up coming together. It’s been so cool to see the acts we’ve shared the stage with grow alongside us and come into their own as artists.
We’d also like to thank our studio guru David Peters for being a mentor with ENDLESS patience.
And lastly, Ferdinand Barrera for never failing to make us look goooooood.
