Meet Sunnie | Psychic Medium and Tarot Reader

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sunnie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sunnie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I set out to share my gift of spirit communication to help people through the kind of heavy grief I once carried myself. Over time, my readings—blending tarot and channeling—began transforming clients’ sorrow into ease, nostalgia, and even laughter, as spirit always has something uniquely meaningful to share.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work began suddenly—one day, I simply woke up clairaudient. I quit my job, enrolled in mediumship training with the James Van Praagh School of Mystical Arts, and took a leap of faith by telling my community I’d discovered my spiritual gifts. I started offering free readings, and over time, as word spread and my skills grew, so did a new entrepreneurial side of me.
The journey wasn’t easy. Six months later, financial necessity drew me back into the café world, where I’d worked for decades. But this time, I was fully out of the spiritual closet. I’ll never forget the interview when they asked, “If you could have any magical ability, what would it be?” I replied, “I already do—I can communicate with spirits.” Risky and hilarious—but I was hired. Over the last three years, I’ve built a life where I can be my authentic self, work for a great company, and run my own business.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that living authentically frees you from needing anyone’s approval. Some people dismiss what I do—calling it “voodoo” or saying they “don’t believe in that stuff.” I’ve learned their opinions don’t require my energy.
This path has also taught me about the darker side of spiritual work—clients carry attachments, addictions, and heavy energy. Learning to navigate spiritual attacks led me into unexpected areas like home clearings and entity removal, which I’ve grown to appreciate deeply.
Above all, I want people to know that relief from pain and answers to life’s hardest questions are possible. Readings can offer a profound, spiritual perspective on your habits, relationships, karma, and the path forward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LA is such a beautiful, diverse city. If a friend were visiting, I’d start at The Chori-man in San Pedro, then cruise through the beach cities—Redondo and Hermosa—for coffee and shopping. Next, we’d stop at Alfred Coffee in Marina Del Rey for a Matcha Colada with a view of the boats. From there, we’d head to Olvera Street to explore the shops, then visit MOCA for some art. For dinner, Wurstküche in DTLA is always a hit, with dessert at Urth Caffé nearby. Another day, we’d wander Little Tokyo to eat and explore.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my brother, Lucas Commiso—aka DeLoose Canon. He’s been a huge inspiration, showing me what’s possible when you believe in yourself. From nothing, he built his dream career through vision, dedication, and sheer will—and he’s 14 years younger than me. He sets tough goals for himself and achieves them. LAst year he set goals for realeasing one new song every month and working out 365 times and he achieved them both.
