Meet DubCartier | Entrepreneur/Rawp Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with DubCartier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DubCartier, why did you pursue a creative career?
Because I respect and appreciate the freedom of expression and creativity. Being able to conceive something and manifest it is absolutely amazing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Lesson learned; My music is my Art. No doubt about it! I learned how to listen for the right sound that helps my pen maneuver. Thats not something easily done. It took years to aquire it. I paint vivid images with my pen and paper. Old school with my craft, I keep it original with my creative process, which sets me apart from the newer age aspiring artists who use phones and other electronic devices to compose and remember their material. I’m proud to say i dont have to do those things. I put feeling and emphasis in my music, on paper, enabling my fans to analyze and really relate to me. No AI or auto tune bullshit, just pure talent and skills. I sleep on a melody and by a day or two, its packed down in my conscience. My musical passion ignited as a teenager, but being shipped off to serve over 16 1/2 years in state prison, added something impactful and impressive to my craft; It enabled me to become very diverse in topic and content, and the cadence and delivery became impeccable!! Thats when i knew i had something Professional within. So to answer your question, what sets me apart from my competitors is my ability to easily differentiate my sound, stand out, and grasp the audience attention within the first 3 seconds of grabbing the microphone. GUARANTEED!
The set back builded confidence and strong will and determination within me, and although it was a dark time in my life, I come out of it shinning. However; that time lapse also hindered me, as well, because I’m from a small town called Barstow, California. There isn’t any real music industry resources out that way, so I found myself becoming Stagnant trying to embark on this music journey professionally with absolutely no resources, finances, or genuine assistance. So, although the skills and talent set are most definitely worthy of recognition and professional placement, the reality and truth of the matter is simply this; “ITS NOT MY TIME YET”. But when it comes YOU’LL KNOW, BECAUSE ITS GOING TO SHOW. Until then I’m running laps like everyone else’s. No big Me’s or Lil You’s, just running laps on an even playing field until I cross the finish line, and even then the work is never fully finished, so I keep RIMROCKN everyday! Sun up, til sundown then back around. TMC like the bro Hussle say; Shit I get it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would most definitely suggest that we roll out to Venice Beach, pull up to the #2 MARATHON BURGER, order the O.G burger with the Nip Blue lemonade… super fire!! Eat good, roll up a LOUDCLOUD stuffed with MARATHON O.G, play some G.I. JOE OMG…. Smoke one for my brotha, then we’ll hit Sunset once the sunset, cruise the boulevard in a rag top 63 Chevy SS, alternating from playing 2PAC to live and die in LA ,& Sugar Free, by JUICY, looking through my review for any and all signs of jackers and LAPD! That’s what we call dippin in Southern California. We’ll hit up UNAPPRECIATED CLOTHING on Slauson Ave, grab some dope ass gear from cuzzo then sagg to MAC’N TUESDAY for some comedy and great laughs, smoke consecutively, because that’s just what DubCartier requires. Dip down Crenshaw Blvd towards Leimert Park off 43rd, do some more black owned business shopping amongst the service and product providers in the community(SOUL FOLKS). Tap in with my INEEDALLMINE (INAM)brothers from another mother Ave & SB…. we call doing such, an EZCALL. Run a few games of Chess, bust down a few reps of exercises, then make the dice jump around for a lick or two. Next day, same Thang, just in a different direction. This time we’re heading towards the #1MARATHON BURGER on Melrose. Salute bro Blacc Sizy and Rich Jimmy Jr, and the TMC team for running laps consecutively. Order some fire wings, some more fire fries ,spit a hot 16 for the fans, take a couple pics, then we off! Always On My Grind. Always traveling where the inspiration takes me. We do this type of shii everyday when in LA. Homies seeking opportunities to elevate their existence through grinding everyday! Whether selling food or merchandise, music, or marijuana. Networking from circuit to circuit attempting to make an objective to a dream come true.
