We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marc, why did you pursue a creative career?
My father taught me at a young age to pick a career that you love doing and you’ll never work a day in your life. I was always the kid with a camcorder in his hand, recording life and my little skits and movies. When I was 17, I made a music video and sent it into MTV – they aired it. That’s when I knew this hobby was going to be my career. Prior to this revelation I thought I was going to be a marine biologist – now i just watch Shark Week instead. I think everyone’s brain is wired and excels in different areas. I can think of a million creative ideas for movies and games but I couldn’t even tell you when the War of 1812 was. I pursued what I was naturally good at.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has been a combination of mainstream and adult entertainment. I started working in the reality tv world and working on big budget movies. Then I was asked one day to write a script for an adult movie – I responded, “So you want me to write the ooh and aahs?” No, they wanted me to write a movie that if the sex was taken out then it would still stand as an entertaining story. The check was good so I wrote the movie. The studio then asked me to direct it, I said no but that I would direct the story scenes. I did that for about a year and then took over directing the entire movie. I have been lucky enough to win literally award there is in the adult industry and have filmed in over 20 countries from South Africa and Sicily to Costa Rica and Scotland connecting gay men with the freedom of sexuality. My career has now shifted back to mainstream with my podcast Discretion Advised where we take one porn star and one mainstream celeb and put them together in a discussion that connects us. I am also in the middle of filming the first season of my new tv game show Hot Tub Games where we take one gay adult star and one pop culture queen – whether a real housewife, or Drag Race Girl and pin them against each other in a series of ridiculous games.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m an activity based person – so we’d ride bikes through Central Park or Fort Tryon. Eat at Norma’s – my favorite Italian spot in Hell’s Kitchen and go see a Broadway show.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank my trauma. The funniest people I know have lived through tough times. It’s a coping mechanism of finding light in the darkness. If you don’t feel like you belong in the space you are in then you create a world that is yours. I grew up on a small island where there were no other gay people, at least not that were open. I was tormented for being the odd one out but that pushed me to move to NYC at the age of 16 and start cultivating a life I yearned for. I met many amazing people who gravitated to each other with similar goals. One in particular is Kadie Chronister. Also someone with a rough start at life but broke through and turned fateless into greatness.
