Meet Ross Bergen | Photographer, Creative Director, & Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ross Bergen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ross, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Discipline. Motivation gets you started, but it ebbs and flows; discipline is what helps you succeed in the long run.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve been acting for almost a decade, which is a business and craft I continue to pursue, but my latest venture is launching, with my business partner Rich Eick, Rich Ross Creative House; an arthouse media company focusing on branding through visual storytelling. I focus on still photography and Rich, videography.
What sets us apart from other media and branding companies is, in my opinion, the most important thing: we understand and care about people. We understand how to get the best out of our talent in front of the lens, having been in front of it ourselves, and we understand the pulse of what is current, and even yet to come.
I am very proud that all clients leave our shoots smiling and giddy with excitement. There is nothing I love more than seeing my collaborators feeling confident and excited by the work we create together; it is invigorating and inspiring.
Now, every shoot and business venture comes with challenges and obstacles to overcome. With that, the biggest lesson I have learned is that each obstacle is merely an opportunity disguised as a challenge; nothing is a loss, only a lesson to grow. You only lose if you quit–I never quit. Every day, every moment, is another chance to try again and succeed better.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First night in the city we’re going to Jones for pre-dinner martinis. We then catch an Uber over to For The Win for smash burgers before walking down the block to Lily’s Bar for an espresso martini–the rest of the night is up for debate. The next day consists of backgammon at Barnsdall Art Park with some Sancerre and a good afternoon nap before hitting Little Dom’s for the meatball and spaghetti. Throughout the week we’ll check out the Getty, go for a hike in Griffith, drive the PCH to Malibu Seafood for some fish n’ chips before capping it all off with a trip up to Santa Barbara to do a Sideways-style vineyard tour. We’re going to the Hitching Post needless to say and spending some time at the beach up there as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I consider myself the luckiest person on earth. I am extremely blessed and grateful to have been raised by the best parents a person could ask for. I joke with them and say I quite literally would not be here without them, but also figuratively speaking as well. My parents, along with my older sister, for my entire life, have given me unconditional love, support, and encouragement. I owe them everything.
To my friends, both old and new, I owe a debt of gratitude that I can never repay. Their fellowship, bolstering, and influence–intellectually, recreationally, and professionally–has given me a wealth of knowledge and spirit that has enriched my life beyond dreams.
And all of this I am blessed to have because of G-d; with Him, anything is possible.
