We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Szertics and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robert, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For me, risk has always been intertwined with trust — trust in myself, in timing, and in the idea that life rewards alignment more than comfort. Leaving Sweden and everything familiar to start over in Los Angeles was less about chasing a dream and more about following an inner pull I couldn’t ignore. It wasn’t easy — I left behind family, stability, and a predictable life — but I knew that growth only happens when you step into the unknown.
Every chapter since has been another layer of that same lesson. Starting my own company, especially right after the Hollywood strikes, felt like another leap into uncertainty. But I’ve learned that when something feels deeply right, even if it scares you, that’s usually the direction you’re meant to go.
Risk, to me, is a form of faith — faith that your intuition knows the way before your logic does. The moments that have felt the most uncertain have also been the ones that shaped me the most, personally and professionally. Every time I’ve chosen courage over comfort, life has met me halfway.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I follow an inner current more than a roadmap. Leaving Sweden in 2012 to study in Los Angeles was the first real acts of listening — little echoes that became louder until I had to answer them. Those early choices taught me that the life you’re meant for rarely lines up with the life that feels safe.
What sets me apart is that I’ve learned to treat risk as a kind of devotion rather than a gamble. I build my decisions around alignment — with intuition, with integrity, and with the artists I represent — and then I do the practical work to make that alignment real. That approach is core to why I started Madhouse Talent Management and how I run it.
I’m most proud of creating a space that helps actors move from auditions to meaningful work — a place that honors the whole person, not just the resume. I’m excited about the ways my clients are showing up on screen and the connections I keep building in the industry.
The biggest lessons I’ve learned: 1) Risk without preparation is chaos; risk with integrity is growth. 2) Your network is not just transactions — it’s a mirror; be the kind of person you want to work with. 3) The work you do for others defines your reputation far longer than anything you do for yourself. These lessons shape how I advise clients and how I build my business day to day.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is simple: Madhouse is a home for serious artists who want honest representation and creative stewardship. I’m here to take bold, thoughtful bets on people I believe in — to amplify their voice, protect their careers, and shepherd the small, vital decisions that lead to lasting work. If you want someone who treats your craft like something sacred, that’s what I offer.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the Santa Monica Mountains on a sunset hike and then never come back again.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a huge shoutout to my wife, Linda. She’s not only an incredible woman but truly one of the most sincere and greatest persons I know. Her strength, patience, and humble approach to life constantly inspire me to grow both as a person and as a partner.
Behind every risk I’ve taken and every milestone I’ve reached, she’s been there — grounding me, challenging me, and reminding me of what actually matters. Linda has this rare ability to see the bigger picture while still caring deeply about the smallest details, and that balance has shaped the way I move through life and business.
I’m endlessly grateful for her wisdom, loyalty, and unwavering belief in me. The life we’ve built here wouldn’t exist without her.
