Meet Julia Beise

We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Beise and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julia, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
It all started at a very young age, I realized that creativity was a tool for me. I felt deeply powerless and restricted in large parts of my life, and with this tool I became more aware of this. It was an outlet where I could explore parts of myself. I believe it is inherently human to search for belonging. I found belonging in acting, music, and movement. Through these passions, I found out it’s not about escaping my feelings, it’s about facing what hurts and growing from that. Creativity taught me how to surrender to the unknown. My life changed from stagnant to “in motion”. I became driven to grow in the art forms I practiced, and in that growth, I began taking ownership of my own life. I chose to pursue a creative career because it brought me into alignment with myself. It’s become my way of living wholeheartedly. Moving toward what scares me in pursuit of growth.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am originally from Helsingborg, Sweden, and as a kid I dreamed of moving to Hollywood and becoming a global sensation. A superstar. I wanted to become an actor, a singer, and Justin Bieber’s backup dancer. He was gonna fall in love with me on tour, and then we were gonna get married and have kids. I still can’t make sense of why that did not happen.
My mom used to live in CA during the 80’s, and from an early age, I would spend hours looking through her photo albums. It made me feel a lot closer to her and to CA. Growing up, I visited here a few times, and each time left a big impression on me. I felt like I had encountered something I was meant to return to. I was determined that one day I would move here. By the time I turned 21, I was able to make that a reality.
I was accepted into Pacific Conservatory Theatre (PCPA) in 2023 and spent the following two years immersed in the world of the arts. Moving here was a big culture shock, and diving into the world of musical theatre was extremely unfamiliar territory. Mind you, I did not get into PCPA by doing 36 pirouettes in a row or by belting like a Disney princess. I got in by doing a monologue from Kill Bill: Vol. 2. I wasn’t a conventional musical theatre actor. I struggled with dance, and I didn’t originally relate to the styles of musical theatre. But I found my groove. At PCPA, I was formally introduced to the world of Shakespeare. At first, trying to crack the code of iambic pentameter felt like solving a math equation, and working in a second language made things even more difficult. But I learned, I adjusted, and I grew to love Shakespeare. In my second year, I got cast as Hero in PCPA’s production of Much Ado About Nothing. Unfortunately, I was caught off guard by serious health issues and had to forfeit the role. But still, it’s something to be proud of. I came out the other end of two years as a developed, strong, capable actor with a lot more to learn. I moved down to LA in the fall of 2025. Within one month of being here, I joined the advanced class at Actor’s Edge studio, signed with Peter Kallinteris agency, and “scare acted” for LA Haunted Hayride as their spiritual medium, Aurora. Since then, I’ve been juggling multiple part-time jobs, auditioning, and handling the challenges and restrictions that come with being on a temporary visa. My focus right now is building qualifications and getting a leg up in the industry.
I think that there’s something very normal and human about me that makes me relatable to others. I think we are all on our own unique journeys, and we all have attributes that set us apart. It just depends on whether we’re given the platform, opportunity, and resources. Everyone’s path unfolds at a different pace. Personally, I don’t want things served on a silver platter. I want to work for it. Earn it. Soak up all the life lessons from that process. I am grateful for all the opportunities I’ve gotten so far.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start off slow and let her get settled in. We would first go on a little morning adventure to get coffee at Coffee’s Crib in Warner Center Park. Or I would put together a to-go charcuterie board and head to Crystal Springs Picnic Area. I’d plan a day trip to Malibu, get lunch at Pura Vida and then spend some time at Malibu Lagoon State Beach. Later, we could go thrifting in the Valley or visit the SilverLake Flea.
For nightlife, we would meet up with my LA friends and go to Barney’s Beanery in West Hollywood to play pool and have a few drinks. During the weekend, we would head to No Vacancy, Dessert 5, then end the night with pizza at Joe’s Pizza.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for all the endless support and care from friends, family and mentors. Especially grateful for my mom Cornelia because wow, I have truly been a handful over the years, and she loved me through every version of myself anyway. I’m also grateful for all the wholesome short-lived encounters that gently nudged me in the right direction, as well as the toxic encounters. They were pretty eye-opening as well. I am forever grateful for the community I established during my 3 years at Mega Musik gymnasieskola in Helsingborg, Sweden. Music was my entryway into the performing arts, and it’s something I want to explore further. During my time at Mega Musik, I, for the first time in my life, felt safe and supported enough to share a piece of my artistry and myself with others. I appreciate you for giving that to me in return. Furthermore, thank you to all the teachers at PCPA for bringing me back home to myself and for teaching me the skills, discipline, and humanity this craft requires. And a special shoutout to my classmates at PCPA, the mighty 20. You’ve raised my standards for what community and belonging should feel like. I love so so much.
