Meet Nury Espinoza

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nury Espinoza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nury, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important thing I’ve done as a parent is show my children what it looks like to believe in yourself and pursue your purpose. I’ve tried to lead by example — showing them that if you truly want something, you work hard for it, stay resilient, and keep moving forward even when things are uncertain.
As an entrepreneur, they’ve seen firsthand that building something meaningful takes courage, discipline, and persistence. My hope is that the impact of that example stays with them — that they trust themselves, go after what they want, and build lives around work they genuinely love.
To me, success isn’t just about accomplishments. It’s about having the confidence to create a life that reflects who you are and what matters most to you.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career really started with learning by doing. I’ve always believed that experience — including mistakes — is one of the best teachers. Growth comes from trying, learning, adjusting, and continuing to move forward.
I began working in accounting and bookkeeping when I was 19 years old for a small, family-owned veterinary practice with about five veterinarians. It was very much a “mom and pop” environment, and that’s where I gained my first real exposure to how businesses operate behind the scenes.
Over time, that small practice began to grow. What started as one clinic eventually expanded and was acquired, becoming part of a much larger organization that grew into a network of 26 animal hospitals. During that time, I grew professionally along with the company and eventually became the COO of the organization while also completing my MBA full-time at Pepperdine University.
Shortly after earning my degree, the company began restructuring and I was laid off. At the time, it felt like a major setback, but looking back it was actually a turning point. About a year later, I started my own firm, Accounting Breeze.
That was twelve years ago, and I’ve never looked back.
What sets my work apart is that I understand businesses not just from the accounting side, but from the operational side as well. Having worked my way up through a growing organization taught me how financial decisions affect real people, teams, and long-term strategy.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that success is rarely a straight path. You learn by gaining experience, making mistakes, and continuing to move forward with resilience and curiosity. Every challenge becomes part of the foundation that prepares you for the next chapter.
Today, through Accounting Breeze, my goal is to help entrepreneurs and professionals feel confident and supported when it comes to their finances. I want people to know that understanding your numbers can empower you to build the life and business you want.
At Accounting Breeze, we believe progress comes from experience — learning, adjusting, and continuing to move forward with confidence.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a best friend were visiting for a week, I would definitely want them to experience the relaxed coastal lifestyle that makes the South Bay so special.
We’d probably start the mornings with breakfast by the beach, Martha’s in Hermosa Beach is always a favorite, and Urban Café in Hawthorne is another great spot. Wendy’s Café in El Segundo is also a must for a classic breakfast.
After that, I’d plan a mix of culture and ocean views. The Getty Museum and the Huntington Gardens are both beautiful places to spend a morning walking around and enjoying the art and gardens.
Of course, no visit would be complete without time at the beach. Santa Monica Beach is always fun for people watching and walking along the pier, and I love taking visitors down to Palos Verdes for the incredible coastal views.
For lunch, Terranea Resort is one of my favorite places, the ocean views there are unforgettable.
In the evenings, we’d walk the Manhattan Beach Pier and catch the sunset, which is one of the best ways to end the day in the South Bay. Dinner could be somewhere along the marina like Brizo in Marina del Rey, and The Kettle in Manhattan Beach is always a great option at any time of day.
What I love about this area is that you can experience so much within a short distance, beautiful beaches, great food, art, nature, and that laid-back coastal energy that makes Southern California so special.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would dedicate my shoutout to my parents. They immigrated from Ecuador and began their journey in New York working traditional jobs before eventually becoming U.S. citizens and moving to California. Their determination and resilience had a huge impact on me growing up.
What really shaped me was watching my father turn a difficult experience into an opportunity. After going through a workers’ compensation case, he took a paralegal course so he could better understand the process. By the time I was around 10 years old, he had taken that knowledge and started his own business, California Paralegal Services, eventually employing my mother as well.
Seeing my parents build something of their own from the ground up showed me what entrepreneurship really looks like — not just the success, but the courage and work behind it.
By the time I was 18, I was already helping them with Nury’s Professional Services as a tax preparer and notary public. That early exposure to serving clients and running a business planted the seed for what would eventually become my own firm, Accounting Breeze.
Their example of hard work, independence, and believing in your ability to create opportunities has stayed with me throughout my life and career.
