We had the good fortune of connecting with Aleksandra Hilvert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aleksandra, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
A few years into my legal career, I recognized that there was a critical gap in access to justice for business owners and individuals caught in a recurring cycle of breached contracts and delayed or missing payments. That realization led me to create a new type of litigation firm – a firm specializing in breach of contract on a contingency which means I am only paid if I can recover on my clients’ behalf. While contingency-based representation is common in employment law or personal injury, it’s almost nonexistent for routine contract disputes. By handling breach of contract cases without hourly legal fees, we empower individuals and businesses to assert their rights and recover what they’re owed quickly and efficiently. Our goal is simple: give businesses and individuals a fair opportunity to protect their rights and recover what they are owed, without the financial barriers that often prevent them from pursuing legal action. Today, Vault Legal represents a diverse range of clients, including production companies, content creators, CPAs, marketing firms, and modeling and talent agencies throughout California and beyond.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career path has given me access to some of the most successful attorneys in LA; seeing them build their firms brick by brick helped me realize that this was actually attainable for me as well. It hasn’t always been easy. Building a business from the ground up comes with financial, logistical, and emotional challenges – and you’re never able to fully disengage. However, delivering results and playing a role in my clients’ success has been exceptionally rewarding.

What sets me apart is my business model: I combine years of legal expertise with a novel business model which incentivizes me to close accounts as quickly as possible for as much money as possible putting that value back into my clients’ pocket without the usual risks of litigation.

I’m most proud of empowering clients who otherwise might have felt stuck or voiceless, helping them protect what they’ve worked so hard to build. My clients are able to breathe a sigh of relief not only when I am able to recover on a breached contract on their behalf but in knowing that (hopefully) won’t happen again with Vault Legal on their side.

At the heart of my work is a simple mission: to provide high-quality legal representation in a way that is accessible, practical, and results-oriented. My firm isn’t just about broken contracts. It’s about people, fairness, and giving clients the confidence to pursue what they’re owed without fear of financial strain. Over the past year, I’ve enjoyed leading webinars on best practices for breached contracts through platforms like Trusted Advisors and California Lawyers for the Arts, along with guest appearances on a few podcasts. I aim to provide clear, practical guidance so people can handle these disputes confidently—hopefully without ever needing to hire me. But if they do, I’ll be ready to fight!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Any visit to Los Angeles should start with The Broad which is a world-class contemporary art museum that’s as architecturally striking as the collection it houses. From there, take a short walk to Angels Flight Railway, the city’s oldest operating funicular. At the bottom, you’ll find yourself steps from Grand Central Market, a vibrant food hall packed with some of the best local vendors (and the occasional celebrity chef sighting).

Of course, LA’s beaches are just as iconic and Zuma is always at the top of my list. It is never too crowded and the waves are perfect for our kids who love to boogie board (big enough for them to catch some waves but small enough so I can relax with a book).

For a great night out, you can’t go wrong with a great meal and martini at Cecconi’s or Funke, followed a show at the Troubadour or the Viper Room. Both venues offer a more intimate setting than traditional music halls, making the acoustics feel that much richer and more immersive. A personal favorite hidden gem is Funke’s rooftop which does not require reservations, and it is home to a stunning Italian rose quartz bar that’s worth the visit alone.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a special shout-out to Steven Lowe, founder of Lowe & Associates. I have been fortunate to work under Steven’s tutelage for the last 13 years – together we have litigated some of the top entertainment law cases including copyright infringement and defamation/cyber bullying on behalf of high profile clients. It was Steven whose mentorship gave me the courage to take the leap and start my own law firm given he had done so early in his career and has built a thriving business. I’m incredibly grateful for his mentorship and the foundation it provided as I launched my own firm.
