Meet Dr. Rochelle Karapetian + Dr. Ghazal Ghaysar | Founder of Root & Grow Health

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Rochelle Karapetian + Dr. Ghazal Ghaysar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Rochelle Karapetian + Dr. Ghazal Ghaysar, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We are the owners of Root & Grow Health, and it really started with a simple idea: care should feel as good as it is effective. We were seeing strong clinical work, but it often felt impersonal, and we knew there was room to do it differently.
From the beginning, we wanted to build something intentional. A practice where every step of the experience feels thoughtful and considered. When someone reaches out by phone or email, they’re not routed through a generic system. They’re speaking directly with a clinician who can understand their needs and guide them in a meaningful way. We take a lot of care in matching clients with the right therapist, because we know that connection is everything. In a time where so much is becoming automated, we’ve made it a priority to keep a real human presence throughout the entire process.
The name Root & Grow reflects how we approach the work. We believe in understanding the root of what’s going on, whether that’s past experiences, patterns, or environment, while also supporting growth that is sustainable and real.
We were equally intentional about building our team. We prioritize clinicians who bring strong ethics, diverse perspectives, and a genuine alignment with our values. Just as importantly, we’ve created a culture where clinicians feel supported, respected, and able to show up fully. We believe that when clinicians are cared for, the quality of care they provide naturally follows.
At its core, starting Root & Grow was about creating something more thoughtful and more human. Not just a business, but a space that reflects the kind of care we believe people truly deserve.

What should our readers know about your business?
It’s so exciting to be able to talk about Root and Grow Health… something that’s been built with so much intention.
Root and Grow Health is a psychological and assessment-based practice offering therapy and testing services, with a focus on helping people better understand themselves and create meaningful, lasting change. At our core, we believe healing starts with feeling seen, supported, and genuinely understood.
What sets us apart is the way we blend strong clinical care with real human connection. We’re thoughtful about every detail and create an experience that feels both grounded and deeply personal.
Building this hasn’t been easy. There have been long days, uncertainty, and a lot of learning along the way… but also so much growth. It’s taught us that consistency matters, relationships are everything, and that staying true to your values is what really builds something lasting.
More than anything, we want people to know that Root and Grow Health is built with heart. It’s real, it’s intentional, and it’s something we care deeply about.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We live on opposite sides of town—one of us on the West Side, the other on the East—so our ideal day usually means meeting somewhere in the middle. It almost always involves Korean barbecue (a non-negotiable highlight for us), followed by a fun coffee stop, and then heading back before traffic kicks in. There’s something about sharing good food that feels like it nourishes both our bodies and our souls.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We really believe that nothing we’ve built has been done in isolation. Root & Grow Health is a reflection of so many people who have supported, challenged, and shaped us along the way.
First, our clinicians. They are the heart of everything we do. The level of care, integrity, and presence they bring every day is what makes our work meaningful. We’ve been intentional about who we bring onto our team, but it’s their commitment that truly brings the vision to life.
We’re also incredibly grateful for the mentors and colleagues who guided us early on (and honestly, still do!!!)
And of course, our clients. Their trust is something we deeply value. Being part of someone’s process is a responsibility we don’t take lightly, and it continues to shape how we approach our work.
On a personal level, our families and support systems have been essential. Building something like this takes a lot, and having people who believe in us has made all the difference.
