We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc Tarczali and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marc, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
We are all very much influenced by the media we consume, so its important to cultivate a healthy content environment that encourages imagination, curiosity, and artistic ambition. One of my larger goals is to teach filmmakers new ways to tell stories and bring their visions to life, by creating new pathways to monetize their efforts so they can keep making art. The age of distribution deals is over, the age of ubiquitous free information and content has arrived and that requires making some changes. There’s no reason why filmmakers should forfeit market share and brand deals to influencers who make lower quality content- – the barrier to entry is the time and financial cost required to make a film. The good news is that making a film is as cheap as it’s ever been as technology improves. If we can create an aesthetic that works with tools on a higher compositional level, we can recapture market share and see growth in the film industry once again.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The modern film industry was created by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. The release of “Star Wars” ejected American cinema from a nihilistic trend and inspired people to once again use their imagination. A wave of blockbuster films by Spielberg followed, and whether or not the auteurs of the cinematic world want to admit it, they single handedly reinvigorated capital investment into American art. These films were a departure from the pessimism of post-modern 70’s cinema that taught the audience to stop using their imagination and accept a bleak reality. It is our imagination that ultimately frees us from that bleak survivalist world. When we use our imagination, we create new business segments, products, films, and attitudes that reinvigorate our economy and emotions. Currently I’m attempting to infuse fun, hope, and imagination back into American cinema, and teach other filmmakers how to leverage modern technology to create faster, cheaper, and more efficient workflows.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Nothing says “tinsel-town” like a visit to the Glendale Galleria. After catching a second viewing of “Shrek 5”, we could brunch in Larchmont with the next generation of great creative minds, then spend the evening in Skid Row experiencing the best LA has to offer in culture, diverse food, and cutting edge fashion. After, perhaps we dip our toes in the pristine waters of Malibu, and uncork a couple of bottles of craft made kombucha spritzers.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My dad was the most influential person in my life. He cultivated my imagination and encouraged me to dream big at a time when most of the adults around me were attempting to shoot down my aspirations. By my estimation, he was the only person who thought I could do anything beyond working a municipal job and forfeiting my larger ambitions. He saw the goodness in everyone, even the most troubled people, and would always lend a helping hand or make a funny joke to energize someone’s day. Blockbuster was an almost daily ritual for us, my dad always managed to find the most obscure cult movies to watch like “Heavy Metal” or “Frankenstein Unbound”. He taught me to fight for what I believe in and to be unrelenting in pursuing my dreams. And that is my message for everyone else- do what you want to do, be the person you want to be, and never stop. There will be no shortage of people looking to derail your efforts out of jealousy and insecurity. It’s important to stay focused on what you’re trying to accomplish.
