We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Koo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Giving my all to whatever task is at hand, whether it be a small order or a grand event.  It doesn’t matter the size of the project, I treat each client with the most attention to detail and try to understand where they’re coming from, whether it’s celebrating a wedding or a milestone birthday, mourning the loss of a loved one or to cheer up a friend.   My goal is to not just create beauty but to evoke emotion and make the experience more meaningful and joyful for the receiver. 

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It hasn’t always been an easy road but the simple ethic of hard work and never giving up has paid off. The sleepless nights and sacrifices from running a small business has taught me valuable lessons in perseverance.  Also to not fall into the trap of comparison but to stay focused with what I’m working on and continue to dig into my creative side. My background in the fine arts and sculpture have definitely helped with that. I’m thankful to my clients for entrusting me to do what I love and partake in such significant moments in their lives. I truly believe that the beauty of flowers has an ability to move others and set the tone for any given environment.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many amazing dining choices in LA but a few of my favorites would be Bestia, Santa Monica Seafood Company, Pasta Sisters or Father’s Office.  I can always go for some ice cream at Salt and Straw or Van Leeuwen in Culver City.  And you can always find some good local coffee shops in every corner in town.  

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My first flower boss Peng Port, 17 years ago for showing me the ropes to running a flower business.
