We had the good fortune of connecting with Rafaell Teixeira and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rafaell, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
If you have passion for the career you chose, you should never give up. I believe we should create the life we want, start building it in the present so we can have a good future. If we give up, we will never know what we could have accomplished and we might end up regretting our choice of not pursuing what we love. It’s okay to stop doing something that is not making you happy just so you can open new opportunities for new goals and dreams.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I was in my last years of High School, I had this friend who loved movies and he knew everything about it. I ended up taking interest with film as well after all the talks we had and decided I want to pursue film. My friend wanted to be a director/writer and I had a rock band at that time. I knew that if I want to work in film, I would be doing something related to sound so I took music technology in college, which enabled me to learn more about sound, music and its technologies. I would get excited with each class I would take and because of those, I started thinking about working with sound. I had situations where I would work as a sound designer and the more I worked on it, the more I wanted to pursue it. After each client, my love and confidence for it grew and I had the hunger to learn and work on it more. I told myself, “If I want to be happy, I need to follow what I love and not give up. I do not care what gets in my way. I will keep a positive mindset and make my dreams come true.” Now, I work with what I have always wanted and I believe a lot more good things are going to happen in my life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would bring him/her to Hollywood and watch a movie at the Chinese Theater. We could also go to a place to dance, walk by the beach, and in a morning, we could go hiking at the Hollywood sign.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would give a shoutout to my family, friends and teachers who always support me in my journey. They believe in me and have helped me create a vision for my future in order to realize my potential.
