Meet Nyeesha Williams: Holistic Growth Specialist & Trauma Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nyeesha Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nyeesha, what’s the most important think you’ve done for your children?Since having my first daughter as a teenage mother, working hard and hustling was all I knew how to do. In order to keep food on the table, clothes on our backs, and a roof over our heads- there was no other way to live. Up until my last child, my two daughters witnessed me getting up early to work for a company where I was not happy nor respected and then coming home living a lie. See, I had the money, I worked on Rodeo Drive, and I even had the cars and lavish trips. The truth of the matter was that my mental health and even physical health was deteriorating. I was living for everyone else and not myself; let alone being a great example for my two daughters.

In terms of the impact on my children…I began showing them that life is what you make it. There was no more working hard. We were working smart. And there was no more saying “yes” to relationships and partnerships that didn’t serve me. Life was about living in my truth and living in it, unapologetically.

I eventually quit my high paying job, I opened up my own business, I became a homeschooling mom (so that I can teach my children the importance of entrepreneurship and financial literacy), and I learned to not separate my work life and mom life. Why? Because life lessons happen with real-life skills.

Taking the leap and taking control over my own life trickled onto theirs and now they are all business owners with residual income. They speak up for themselves, they understand the importance of duty in their community and they are humble through it all. This by far has been my most important decision. And that was…to live!

What should our readers know about your business?
In 2008, I started a non-profit organization that empowers young girls through performing arts, financial literacy, and social abetment. I started this organization at a very young age in the living room of my home. I am now proud to say that this non-profit has expanded to 3 all-girl schools in Africa. This was not easy at all. My life changed drastically after losing a child, moving across the country, and not having a strong support system. I have built a large platform for not only young girls now but women to better assist them both personally and professionally.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is no better place than the beach, especially originating from the east coast where driving to the beach took hours.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shout-out to a very dear friend, Ebony Tutora. This woman shows up for me as if we came out of the womb together. Women like this need to be recognized.
