Meet Malaurie Barber: Psychic/Medium

We had the good fortune of connecting with Malaurie Barber and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Malaurie, what do you think about risk?
I think that most people stop themselves from going for what they want or being what they want by fear of being judge. I get it. For the longest time I hid my gifts and didn’t really tell anyone I was a psychic/medium. I own a yoga studio in Mission Viejo, and somehow I was worried about what my clientele would think if I truly came out as a psychic, but it came a point where hiding that part of me was no longer an option. So a few months ago with the encouragement of my partner I started doing readings and openly talking about it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have many hats. Yoga studio owner (Soul Movement Yoga in Mission Viejo, yoga instructor, but what i am the most excited and proud of lately is Humagik. It is a brand my partner and I created. My main contribution to the brand is psychic readings, but we offer so much more. Personalized 40 Day Practices, Dreamwork and an Immersion program blending all of our modalities. Our goal is to connect humans to the magic within. Truthfully if we had not been forced to shelter in place this past year and shut down our yoga studio temporarily, I do not know if we would have had the bandwith to create this bran new business. I am so grateful that we did. It trutly has been one of the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Giving myself the permission to step into my gift and announce my abilities to the world has been freeing. There are so many psychics out there. I think what sets me apart is that I use no props. It’s all pure channeling. Also I stay true to the messages and if your guides are not giving me clear answers I just don’t make things up. I am so excited to be offering readings to people and so far it has been very well received.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Laguna for a walk on the beach. First though before we got our feet wet, i would stop by Gelato Paradiso for some of the best gelato in town. For lunch would make sure we ate at zinc cafe, dinner at Starfish and end the evening by walking across the street to the Montage to watch the sunset from their balcony. I would take them Joshua Tree for a few nights and stay at the Joshua Tree Retreat center, visit the national park and take in a sound bath at the Integraton. On the way back we would stop in Santa Monica to walk on the pier and pay a visit to Lake Shrine in Pacific Palisade.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, I want to dedicate my success to my partner, Holly, without her I don’t think I would have ‘come out’ and fully embrace my psychic and medium abilities. She encouraged me and truly believed in me. I also would like to give a shout out to my business coach, Amelia Travis @stokedyogi. She believed in me so much and was highly implemental in helping me build my clientele.
