We had the good fortune of connecting with Vinay Narang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vinay, how do you define success?
Success is pursuing a path that you makes you happy. There are three important components to this. First, your chosen field should be something that you enjoy and that you are passionate about. Life is too short to go through the motions every day on tasks that you don’t enjoy. If you don’t love what you are doing, you won’t consistently put in the effort needed to achieve success. Second, you should be constantly learning and improving. If you are not mentally engaged and challenged in your work, you will get bored and not put in the effort necessary to attain success. Third, your work should make a positive impact on others. This can be as simple as filling an essential need for others or putting a smile on people’s faces. Studies consistently show that human beings receive more gratification from helping others than from material goods. For me personally, I get great satisfaction in helping our clients achieve GMAT test scores that allow them to pursue an MBA at their desired schools. I love the enthusiastic emails and testimonials from our former clients that show we helped them achieve their educational dreams.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is the standardized test accepted by MBA programs in the US and around the world. GMAT Genius works with clients worldwide to help them achieve GMAT success. We structure a GMAT curriculum that is tailored to each client’s specific needs. GMAT Genius has developed a reputation for GMAT teaching excellence. Our clients have scored as high as 770 on the GMAT (out of 800 maximum), often improving 50 to 150 points, and have been accepted to top business schools including Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, and Kellogg. With many clients in Southern California, we’ve also had great success in having our clients matriculate into the MBA programs at UCLA, USC, and UC Irvine. Our many testimonials speak to the wonderful results that our clients have achieved. We’re proud to be among the topmost-rated businesses in the test preparation industry on Yelp and Trustpilot, and we’re thrilled every time we hear the excitement in a client’s voice after achieving a great GMAT score or getting acceptance into his or her dream MBA program.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Beaches are what make Southern California famous! So visiting some of my favorite OC beaches is a must: Laguna Beach, Crystal Cove, and Huntington Beach. At least one theme park is also essential. Despite its distance from OC, I am partial to Universal Studios since I worked there for a few years as Manager of International Business Development. There’s lots of great places to eat. I prefer casual spots with great food over fancy dining experiences. I’d recommend Olive Pit Grill in Brea, Din Tai Fung in South Coast Plaza, and Adya and Cha Cha’s Latin Kitchen in Irvine. A stop at In N Out for a double-double is a must! For a relaxing afternoon, I’d suggest the tea room at Sherman Library & Gardens in Corona del Mar. Finally, if it’s baseball season, we would need to cheer on the World Series champions at a Dodgers game!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife Romina has been a pillar of support as I’ve built and grown GMAT Genius. Even in the first few years, when I was not an “overnight success,” she continued to support my efforts and believe in me.
