We had the good fortune of connecting with 3sixo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi 3sixo, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
As an artist, as an mc, as a rapper, as a lyricist, in one of the city’s in the United States that is known for its glitts and glamour, the Hollywood scene, its beaches that just brings out a boiling pot of vibrant energy, there is a lot of competition. It really makes a lot of people think twice if they should even take a music or just any creative endeavor. But at the same time to some people it becomes natural or second nature to jump in and try something new. Some people give up before they even try and as an indie music artist there is no doubt that the thought of maybe this was just a phase has come across my mind. But then I look at the broader scope of things, and the passion, and the love and excitement of the journey that I’ve undertaken and know that this is what makes me human. I take the losses and mistakes now and enjoy the lesson and enjoy the moments and never take for granted when I’m in the studio, rocking a stage, or supporting a fellow artist. My goal is to be able to reach great lenghts of people, and know how to direct the energy of my music to where I want to go and where I want to take it. Never setting low expectations and always chasing that musical high that hits when you know you’ve created something good and struck gold, and sharing it. Share it with people to listen to it when there down, going to work, with friends and family, etc. Im nowhere near where I want to be, but this is what I mean when I say Im enjoying the journey and have set goals for my self. And that’s what keeps me going. I love what I do and I cant even picture my self now putting my pen down, or just not trying to learn how to produce, and not meeting like minded individuals that want to create and push ourselves to be doper then the last thing we did. There’s a lot of wack shit out there and theres a lot of dope shit, my job is to make sure I stay true to my self and share stuff that sounds good to me and that I’m proud of, regardless of critics, because I’m my best critic That’s how I know not to give up, I still love it, Im still chasing it, and I cant live without creating music, art, lyrics, fashion, its all love. Thank you ShoutOut LA for letting me do this and anyone that read this all the way through. If your wondering I’m a product from the ghetto streets of LA and Im just a funky human being, peace peace yall.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My family is originally from Honduras, Honduras is a country in Central America. Honduras is diverse but really poor and doesn’t have a big public figure to represent them or someone to look up to in North America. Off the back that makes me different, have you ever heard of a Honduran American rapper? I want to represent and show my people to be proud of our culture, be proud that even through all the obstacles we are so creative that we survive day to day struggles that many people couldn’t even imagine. But that doesn’t mean that I only represent for my culture, of course I go hard for my people, but I make sure that people know that I include and learn from every culture. I’m proud and excited to say that I can speak to all kinds of people from different walks of life. I just recently began to take my music seriously as in the business aspect of it. Like I’ve said before I’m nowhere near where I want to be right now but I’m loving my sound and how it has grown and I’m enjoying the learning process of building my brand as I go with this musical journey. I understand nothing comes easy, nothing is handed to you unless you inherit something lol. So when I run into something that I don’t understand, a challenge, or a road block of some sort, I go through it I buckle up for the ride. I’ve learned to be patient and persistent, seek for any knowledge or tools, ask questions, and just don’t give up don’t throw the towel in. Especially when others start expressing their own insecurities and try to compare it with your current situation. I’ve learned that you really have to love what your doing in order not to give up when a challenge arises, and that you can never stop learning, there is always room for growth. That’s what I want people to know about me and my brand that 3sixo means that the mind is infinite, that there’s always room for growth, and to learn to detach from whatever keeps us closed minded and explore new experiences how we were set on this world to do. And to know that everyone and everything you come across is what make you unique. That’s the best way I can go about explaining what I stand for. Just be dope, be fresh, be you and unique, believe me its harder then it sounds for a lot us. But I’ll just end it on that note, peace yall. SAY WORD!!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When it comes to LA there’s so many different spots to go eat. But we would have to go to Natalees Thai on Venice, Dinos Chicken, The Original Tommy’s in Rampart, Ramen spots in little Tokyo, of course some taco spots, KBBQ and sheesh maybe to my grandmas one time at least to try a Baliada which is a traditional Honduran dish. As far as hanging out, we would go around dtla check out the fashion district, jewelry district, maybe even slide into the library which has 8 floors divided by genres of books. I think everyone that comes here wants to see Hollywood to see what it actually is lol, and I’d laugh if it lets them down to what they expected it to be, but still gotta go by Hollywood, sunset, melrose, fairfax etc. And the beaches we have to go to a few beaches like Venice beach, Hermosa, or the Santa Monica pier, and cruise down PCH. We would go hiking somewhere because us Angelenos love to find places where we can see a nice view of the city. Try to go to the theaters like the Arclight or maybe the Chinese theater as well as hit up a couple museums. I’d show them all the glitz, glamour, and boujee stuff and then drive through some really crunchy ghetto area real quick like skid row. I would do that just to show them that LA has 2 extreme realities. LA is just such a cultural hub we would have to go to like little Ethiopia, Olevera street, Chinatown, etc and vibe off of the differences in culture and art and buy a few souvenirs. Take a chill pill and hit a bar or brewery in the arts district or if that person is into to the nightlife go hang out at a club. And everyone that comes to LA has heard that our cannabis is some of the best so if that person is into that well we’d go to a dispensary, I don’t even smoke like that but it doesn’t mean we can’t go get something for the homie lol. Try to hit up some record stores if the person is into music. And eventually find out that there’s so many things to do in LA that they would have to come back and visit. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to the most high that lets float through the universe, shout out to my family Moms, Pops, Wife, Son, my other little one on the way and everyone else. Shout out to the beautiful city of LA and shout to the dirty shit that comes with it also. And Shout out to all the experiences positive and negative in life that have made me who I am. Say word!!!
